“Fantastic, friendly and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

We stayed at Hotel Otto with our two young children, in a family room. The room was beautifully presented, spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially to the children. The location is perfect as there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby and it's convenient to the U-Bahn. Would definitely stay there again!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

We stayed at Hotel Otto for 3 nights. We got a bottom floor room which could be a little bit noisy, and I was surprised at how small the actual room was (we basically had to jump over our luggage to get to the bed/bathroom). Like most of Europe, our "double bed" was two singles pushed together.

Other than that the room was very clean, the people at reception were lovely and the amenities were great. It's about a 10 minute walk to the U-Bahn which is on a great for sightseeing, and there are several restaurants (it's the Italian district) in the vicinity of the hotel.

Room were clean, bed was comfortable and staff was very friendly. The hotel is located nice area and there are many restaurants nearby.

We arrived to the hotel by X9 airport bus from Tegel and the trip only takes about 20 minutes. Hotel is located near U-bahn station (Ernst-Reuter) and the airport bus (X9) also stops there.

There was very good breakfast. The breakfast costs 15 euros but in my opinion it's not too pricey because you won't need food in hours. We ate breakfast at the hotel only one morning because we wanted to try other breakfast and brunch places - and we would like to save some money as well. But we found only one great breakfast place (Mokkabar at Kreuzberg). Because I want 2 - 3 cappuccinos in every morning, the prices of our other brunch were exactly same as Hotel Otto...

After being flustered trying to book a hotel and guided by reviews, booked hotel Otto for 4 nights over the new year period. The hotel service, cleanliness and rooms were great. Actually, the service was more than great - it was what you would expect from a five star hotel! The only things to note is that the hotel is in the west. There are great Restaurants nearby, safe area to walk around but found myself commuting to the east most days. However, it's walking distance from the Berlin zoo, main shopping strip and an easy bus ride to the palace on the west. The gourmet deli, Lindner at the corner is a must try! They will even make a sandwich for you with the deli bread, cheese and ham! Overall, a great boutique hotel.

We spent a few days here between Christmas and New Year. It is conveniently located near to the U-bahn (underground train station - Ernst-Reuter Platz), which has an ATM facility right next to the train ticket vending machine. The hotel appears to have been converted from an apartment block, as many others have said, but this is easily forgotten when one is in the room or in the restaurant. The decor is very modern and appealing.
The room was much larger than expected or previously received at any other hotel at this rate - it has an en-suite bathroom, dressing room, very large double bedroom and a sitting area with a sofa, which, I'm sure (but haven't actually tried) could be used as another bed, if required. The bathroom offered only a toilet and shower in a wet room, but it was spacious enough and the wet room was well thought out in that the shower floor has a small step, so towels or other items on the bathroom floor did not become wet. We were also very impressed with the high water pressure and shower temperature, as well as all the lovely fair trade soaps, etc.
The television shows typical European channels - mainly in German - and English channels largely for news only, but this wasn't a problem as we hardly spent any time in the room.
The room became quite hot at night, but the bedroom window (large door) and dressing room window could be opened.
The buffet breakfast is slightly pricey, especially since there is a bakery very close to the hotel - however, for the 15 Euros, we were able to have such a large breakfast, that we didn't require another meal until many hours later, so we were quite satisfied. There was a lovely offering of typical German breakfast foods, which was most welcome. In addition, the hotel does offer free tea / coffee as well as cake and fruit midday, so if one does require replenishment, the hotel is easily reached again for a light tea and a rest, which is ideal for a big city break.
The staff were very competent and helpful, and could speak English very well. I would highly recommend staying here, and hope to return at some stage.

I had the pleasure of staying here with my girlfriend and my son over New Year. I couldn't fault this hotel in anyway.
The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help with local information, making bookings and accommodating our needs. Reception staff in particular helped with giving suggestions of places to eat, sorting out tickets and answering all our queries. At breakfast time the staff of the 7th floor restaurant always ensured that soya milk was available too. Breakfast was a really good option, especially since my son eat for free.
During the afternoon the breakfast room doubled as a lounge for afternoon tea. Serving tea and cakes and snacks for free. This was a really nice touch.
As the clock struck midnight on New Years eve then also provided sparkling wine in the lounge and invited guests to gather to see the fireworks around the city from the 7th floor.

As regards location, it was also perfect. Just 5 mins walk from the X9 airport bus for Tegel and the Ernst-Reuter U-Bahn. getting around the city was so easy. The hotel also sells transport tickets for use all around Berlin.

Clean and tidy rooms, attentive reception staff and a genuine desire to make us feel at home. Suffice to say I'll be back and have absolutely no concerns about recommending Hotel Otto.
