“very nice, low budget hostel in lovely Prenzlauer Berg-area (Berlin)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

If you're looking for a quiet, convenient hostel that well situated just outside some of Prenzlauer Berg's hotspots, this is definitely the place to be. Don't go here when looking for a luxurious, full-service hotel. I have stayed here during the past 7 summers, that number says it all, I guess.......!

Aside from reading the reviews, the hostel replied very quickly on the inquiries I sent via email which was excellent They gave me the clearest direction to their place and it literally was very close to the train station. For a first timer like me (having travelled alone from Munich then Berlin!), I thought it was great. I did a short walk from the train station to the hotel which i found lovely and was greeted by a very nice staff (sorry forgot the name already...) and straight away was given a map and some quick tips on which places to go to, what I could do in the evening because i think i came late afternoon already. And then when it was time to go to my room, was surprised it was decent enough and spacious enough for the sole traveller that's me. An extra pillow would've been nice though! ;) There's quite a few T&B to share so at least that's less a hassle. What's nice is that they give you your own key into the hotel so you could practically come and go whenever you feel like it. I think business closes at 8pm but someone stays 'til late not for anything but just to hang around, in case somebody needs something. I didn't get to try the breakfast they offer as i went early morning for the walking tour. I stayed for 2 nights and have to stay, i had no issue whatsoever. Very ideal location, close to 2 stations and why did i forget to say that it's so walking distance from the small cafe and pubs for a glass of radler or two! :)

Room Tip: Ask for an extra pillow or blanket if you easily get cold, otherwise, the room is okay.

I can't add much to the positive postings that already exist, except to say that all members of staff that I came into contact with during my 5 day stay, were extremely pleasant, helpful and polite. There are two stations close by - Schunhauser Allee (direct line 'S9' from Schonefeld Airport) one way and Eberswalder Strasse 'U2' in the other direction. Both are within reasonable walking distance and provide excellent links to all parts of Berlin.

Room Tip: I had a room at the rear of the premises and therefore didn't hear traffic noise. That said the...

This hostel is located in the heart of Prenzlauer-Berg, one of the nicest districts in Berlin, just around the corner from the wonderful Helmholtzplatz.

The rooms are very basic, but they are neat, clean, and have nice, large beds, an open wardrobe, and sometimes chairs and tables. The staff is very nice, and although I spoke German to them, they seem to speak good English.

When I was staying it wasn't crowded so there was absolutely no problem with sharing bathrooms, but in any case there seems to be enough of them not to have a problem in the morning when one's in rush.

Overall, I would say that this is a perfect place for young people who don't expect luxury and are happy with basic comfort (but actual basic comfort, no euphemisms here), which is a very decent deal when paying 30 euros per night for a single room.

Pros:
- location, location, location
- price
- value
- staff
- quiet and comfy rooms
- check-out at 12
- multiple, clean bathrooms

Cons:
- no elevator
- very basic rooms
- no breakfast, no coffee machine
- room equipment seems to be variable so double check if you want a chair/table

Room Tip: It's generally quite but rooms from the courtyard side will probably be a little more quite. Dou...

We were in a very big, clean and confortable triple room. The facilities are outside the room but it is very clean and there's no problem. The hostel is in a very good quarter of Berlin where you can take wonderful and cheap brunch. It's easy to access Kreuzberg, the night life area. The hotel can give you very good tips about the places to visit and to enjoy in Berlin (not only the monuments and touristic places that you will do in 1 day). We really loved the place and i hardly recommend it.

I loved this hostel!!!!
it is very comfortable, clean, silent, everything is organized!!!
comfortable bed with Egyptian linen yarn sheets, and it is in a delightful area with tree-lined streets, subway, and there are many interesting bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.

Room Tip: this is a hostel, it don't have a swimming pool or fitness center... but the place is perfect f...

Nice hostel and very well located in the middle of Prenzlauer Berg. There are good eating options in the surrounding area and you can also rent bikes for 10 EUR/day nearby - something which is a very good investment (not an expenditure, mind!) in the German capital.
It's definitely not the cheapest place you can find and you have to share the bathroom. It's something in between a cheap hotel and an expensive hostel (no kitchen facilities, zum Beispiel). Nevertheless, I recommend it and I'll try to go there again the next time I travel to Berlin.
