“The bar is unbeatable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

We have visited this hotel bar on the roof several times over the years and it's simply the most wonderful spot to relax in. The view is spectacular! Pleasant people and great service.
We have made it to the Berlin Dom for church services at 6pm more than once and love to come here since after spiritual and mental stroking, its time for a drink and snacks!

Room Tip: I have not stayed here, simply enjoyed the luxurious roof top bar

Had a weekend for 2 of us on a 3rd night free deal via Leading Hotels. Booked a junior suite and were upgraded to a large suite on the 3rd floor next to the dome of the Catholic cathedral. Room was quiet and comfortable with good air-conditioning. REN toiletries and a good bathroom. Service was excellent from beginning to end and breakfast from an extensive buffet and taken in the courtyard was as good as any I've had this year. Bar and food prices are not cheap but in keeping with the hotel. The leisure facilities are good and not much used when we were there.
Only possible negative was that the batteries in the in room safe ran out as we wanted to leave and it took 30 mins to find a solution. We caught the plane but it could have been avoided.

Room Tip: I think they are all good.

We stayed at the Hotel de Rome for 6 nights. We stayed in a junior suite at €440 per night.

In a word: brilliant! Usually when you stay at a hotel at least one thing or another will go wrong, or not be up to standard, or will disappoint your expectations. Not so with Hotel de Rome! We cannot fault this hotel. Everything was so perfect. The room was gorgeous and roomy with high ceilings. (We also looked at a Classic Suite on the 4th floor, but we preferred the Junior Suite on the 2nd floor with its high ceilings). The decor is modern and elegant - I love the bright colors juxtaposed against the deeper greys. The location of the hotel could not be better - it is right in Historic Mitte and it is a perfect starting place to explore Berlin or to wander to one of the many high end restaurants nearby. We loved the rooftop bar to enjoy a drink on a warm evening. But above all, the service was faultless in every respect.

I cannot speak highly enough of every member of the staff we dealt with. The housekeeping staff were so professional and the housekeeping was super fast - we would have our laundry back in hours even when we didn't request the express service. The staff at the reception desk were efficient and friendly. The waitstaff in the restaurant were also efficient and friendly. Best of all were the staff at the concierge desk. Felix, Benjamin and Anne were just so helpful, so knowledgable and so competent. Their professionalism made our experience of Hotel de Rome truly stand out. Nothing was a problem for them - from arranging last minute tickets on the train to Prague to wrapping a birthday gift for my partner really beautifully.

We will definitely return!!

We've stayed at the Hotel de Rome a couple of times before and our experience this time was just as good as previously. The location is great and the interior decoration is very stylish. The two outstandings for us were the concierge service - we dealt with three separate people and they were all exceptional in the way they dealt with us - and the breakfast - I don't think I have ever seen a better breakfast selection in any hotel and the choice of fresh fruit was amazing. The hotel has all the amenities you could want - restaurant, bar, spa and outside rooftop terrace which is a lovely place to have a pre-dinner drink on a sunny evening, plus free shoeshine service, free daily newspaper and free water in the rooms. We had a couple of small niggles - the service at breakfast verged on the obsessive, with plates taken away almost as soon as you had finished your last bite, and we had a small overcharge on our bill (which they quickly put right). In the scheme of things, though, these were tiny and overall this is a very good hotel indeed.

Located at Bebelplatz this splendid hotel is really near everything. The hotel is what it pretends to be, a place with simple luxury. Everything is beautifully designed, but nowhere it is too much design. Luxury is functional. Rooms are great with plenty of space. Staff is kind and efficient. The roof terrace is a great place to be with a phantastic view. Yet barprices are too high. Negative point is also the 20 Euro fee for the internet in your room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view on the city.

We stayed in the Hotel de Rome this weekend and were absolutely delighted. The staff were profesional, helpful, friendly and efficient. The reason we came here was because we were visiting Berlin for a 50th birthday party on the Spree which was fabulous. Only problem our host put us up in a dreadful dive which happened to be near the boat. We just had to move and having stayed in the Hotel de Rome on a business trip previously, couldnt think of the name, we just remembered it was a hotel near the Staatsoper or Opera house. Well thank heavens we found it and there was a room available. Having stayed there once before we were upgraded to an even nicer room than their standard room (ca300 Euro) but for the same price. Well it was just perfect. Would I stay there again? Most certainly! The young lady at reception was just super, friendly and really helpful. On leaving she inquired if we had perhaps left anything in the safe, well low and behold, we had, thank heavens she asked.

The Hotel De Rome is in the Mitte area of Berlin. The check in and out process was easy. Our room was very spacious and it had the best shower I've ever found in any hotel room, anywhere in the world. It was spacious with amazing water flow and pressure and the temperature was constant and as hot as you wanted it. Well worth luxuriating in! We found our bed was too hard compared to the one we have at home. We told reception and there was no hesitation or issues and straight away they added a mattress cover which helped a lot. The air-con works really well and is so quiet you would hardly know it was there, amazing! The breakfast is very good with a great selection of cereals, meats, cheeses, fruits and egg dishes cooked to order. The door men and Anke on the Concierge desk where very helpful. The main negative for this hotel is there isn't free wi-fi and what they do have is limited to 2 devices. All in all we had a comfortable, relaxing, enjoyable time in Berlin and I'm glad we stayed at the Hotel de Rome.

Room Tip: We stayed in 414 on the fourth floor and it was very quiet.
