I have just returned from my 3rd trip to Berlin in as many years and as I booked somewhat last minute, I was pleased to find a hotel that offered both good value and convenience. The City B, did not disappoint.
Located directly opposite Bulowstrasse U-Bahn station, the hotel offers access to most of Berlin with ease and simplicity.
Despite being opposite the U-Bahn station, If travelling from Schonefeld airport, the most direct route is to take the bus to Rudow and then the U-7 U-Bahn to Kleistpark and take a 10 minute walk up Potsdamer Strasse.
If you wanted to take the U-Bahn directly to the hotel, then this would involve the bus to Rudow, the U-7 to Bayischerplatz the U-4 to Nollendorfplatz and then the U-2 to Bulowstrasse.
I booked a comfort room and was most pleased by the size of the room, the amount of storage space and the inclusion of a kitchenette unit. The only downsides of the room were that it was very hot, that the kitchenette offered no utensils, just a sink, microwave and a fridge and that the step from the shower was quite large and could be difficult for those with limited mobility.
The breakfast is 7.5 euros which seems good value - there are 2 types of egg, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts, cereals and fresh fruit on offer and the bread basket was just great to delve into. Drinks wise, you have coffee, tea and herbal tea along with water and fresh juices.
There is no room service at the hotel and no evening meal service, but you are certainly not short of eating establishments in the immediate area. A vending machine in reception does however provide a selection of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
Overall, the hotel offers a good standard of accommodation in a convenient location that is just 2/3 stops away from the Ku'Damm shopping area and probably 7/8 stops to the main tourist attractions that Berlin has to offer,
