“Love this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

My partner & I have just returned from a 3night stay at the Melia. This is our second visit (stayed in December 2011).

The hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the airport – we paid just under 20 euros each way in a cab.

I booked the room with Melia directly & joined to become a member. By doing this, we saved about £90 and also received 30 euro credit (per night) for the hotel which we were able to use as we wished throughout our stay. This also gave us late checkout of 2pm free of charge.

We selected a room on the 7th floor which is also ‘The Level’.

As we had the level, we did struggle a little with the 90 euros we had to spend – we decided to spend this on a meal in the Tapas restaurant (very nice) and also on cocktails in the lobby bar which had a great atmosphere.

The hotel is in great location, and if I return to Berlin again, I will be returning here – again on the level. Not the cheapest of places to stay, but still worth it. The staff are also very friendly & helpful throughout the whole of the hotel.

The Level:
The Level has a lounge where you can have breakfast (included in the price – but you could also have breakfast in the downstairs restaurant, also included). As well as breakfast, you could stop off at any time of the day (between 7am and 10pm) and have hot & soft drinks and also beer. You help yourself to this as well as packets of crisps. Between 6 and 10pm there is a selection of sprits, sparkling & red/white wine that you can help yourself too. They also bought out warm snacks. This time round we found the lounge very quiet – probably as we went at an odd time of the month but it was nice to go and help yourself to as many drinks as you wish before going out for the night. There was also two computers in there that you could use free of charge – handy for checking in for flights & printing boarding passes.

Airport: we flew with BA retuning to Heathrow and the terminal once through security is awful. There is a small duty free shop & a café – do not rush there!

Stayed in Berlin for a few days after Christmas 2012. The Melia Berlin is in a good location, is clean, friendly and the service and food are excellent. This is an ideal hotel for any type of stay in Berlin and I would go back again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I stayed at the Melia Berlin with my boyfriend and brother in September 2012. We had separately booked two rooms and the hotel had linked the bookings, based on mine and my brother's surnames, and assigned rooms next door to one another, which was a nice touch. When we reached our rooms, we realised that we'd received an upgrade, as they were both overlooking the River Spree. It was really nice to be able to people watch and look down on the boats cruising below. The two rooms were identical: Modern, with stylish décor, comfortable furnishings and nice finishing touches such as the complimentary water and good quality toiletries. We were all very pleased with the rooms and the public areas of the hotel matched up to their standard: Everything was pristine!

When we booked the rooms via the Melia website, we received a special offer of €15 credit per person per day, to spend in the restaurants or bar (but not on breakfast). This was great! We had a really nice meal in the tapas restaurant and also some excellent cocktails from the bar.

The location of the hotel is perfect: Friedrichstraße Station is a very short walk down the road and there are also bus stops and clear directions to nearby attractions. Several nice bars and eateries are in close proximity, many of which are conveniently open very late.

I'd also like to mention that my boyfriend and I were celebrating our 4th anniversary during this trip, which we had stated on the booking. Upon our return from sightseeing on our first day, we saw that we'd been left a bottle of champagne in a cooler, along with a congratulatory note. This was such a surprise, which was very gratefully received. It's these personal touches that make such a difference.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay! We were very impressed with the rooms, service and quality of the food and drinks we received. When we return to Berlin, we will definitely rebook the Melia.

Quiet. Excellent location in Mitte. Close to Humboldt University and Unter der Linden. Fine breakfast buffet. Professional staff. Nicely appointed. Close to Friedrichtstrasse Station and good restaurants. Many business travelers enjoy its comforts and locale. Walking distance to sights such as Museumsinsel.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the courtyard are very quiet.

Got this hotel on a deal on booking.com, the price didn't included breakfast, which cost a whooping $24 euros per person, but if you have a Meliá fidelity card the price comes down to $12 euro per person. That's very expensive considering that I got a $99 per day stay.
Ok, this is the part were the hotel this size and reputation get's one less star, there's no free wi-fi, you basically have to buy a hotspot access (10hrs =20 euros) and log in and log off all the time. Bad, really bad!
The room is very well furnished, spacious, nice color scheme, bathroom with bathtub, and tons of little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc...
Breakfast is served on the 1st floor with a nice view of the river, they have every thing you need and a little bit more, you for sure can indulge yourself here. In case you don't want to pay for the breakfast there's a Starbucks very near and also tons of other cafés.
The hotel is very well located, near a major train station and all the must see places in Berlin!

Let me explain. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was nice, breakfast was various and food quality excellent, but I was not prepared to pay as an extra everything is offered for free in every bed and breakfast. Just to begin with it, breakfast is not included in the basis fare. You need wi-fi connection? Please pay. Do you want to use the desktop in the lobby? Pay. Do you need a plug adapter? Buy it at the reception. It's not the price, but it's their idea of service that doesn't fit mine.

We stayed in Melia Berlin during our New Year vacation. Location is the best! Five steps from Museum Island and in the very center of city! U-bahn is just near the doors of the hotel. And S-bahn station is situated in about 200 meters from it.
ReWe supermarket is just 50 meters left from the hotel. And there you can buy all the local food!
Excellent breakfast in the hotel itself, but a little bit overpriced, having breakfast just 2 or 3 times. We received 30-euro-a-day bonus from the hotel and it was very helpful, because there are 2 amazing places to eat - tapas bar and Madrid restaurant in Melia Berlin.
Very beautiful room on the 6 floor, very comfortable and clean! Excellent staff, speaking good English and Spanish. If we decide to go to Berlin again, we'll stay in Melia Berlin only!
