What a great place! This is a real mix of hotel - it's sort of business like in decor, luxury service but family clientele. We also liked that the hotels social responsibility - they have a partnersiop with the literacy program.
Our room was very spacious and we liked that there was a separate bath and shower and that the toilet (located in the bathroom) also had it's own door - the bed area was divided from the bathroom by a wardrobe - which was also great as you didn't disturb the other if they were sleeping. Water pressure and temp were great!
The bed was good - although it wasn't 'luxury' soft , it was still very comfortable.
The staff at this hotel were the excellent - they were efficient, friendly and even though the hotel was busy they still remembered your name and couldn't do enough to help.
The hotel is in a great location - you have a shopping (high-end) on the door step, you can walk to the zoo within 5-10 minutes and you are about a 3-5 min walk from a major subway station (the subway never stops - 24/7!).
Within a few blocks there are many food establishments from Michelin rated to pub-style.
Breakfast at the hotel was worth including as 1) it was good value (lots of choices and sparkling wine) 2) not many of the eateries do breakfast and the only coffee shops we really saw were Starbucks or the places at the subway station/s.
This is a great hotel to explore Berlin from - the only down side (and this has nothing to do with the hotel - it's just a comment on our changing world) is that there were a LOT of children at this hotel which meant a bit of noise in the corridor, children playing with the elevator buttons and helping themselves at breakfast. I think that at some time this would have been a very grand, exclusive hotel but it is now a family domain
