“Something different!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

This boat was certainly different to any other hostel we stayed in but it was enjoyable! 3 of us stayed in a private room and the room had a bunk bed and a double bed. Room was small but this was to be expected on a boat! Moored very close to the Berlin Wall in a good location and there were many bars/restaurants across the bridge (5 minutes away) and the nearest s-bahn stop was 5/10 minutes away so very handy to get into the centre of Berlin to see some of the sights (only a couple of stops, 10 mins or so). Definitely recommend for people looking for a good value hostel in a good location!

I stayed here in April with my girlfriend and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are perhaps a little smaller than some other places but the location and value make up for this. The bathrooms were always clean and the staff were really friendly in general. Breakfast (which is definitely worth paying the extra for) and linen is extra but that's ok given the rates charged. Staying on a boat has charms in and of itself.
The location between Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain is great as there are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes all around.
I would highly recommend staying here for a great value stay.

Thanks for smooth accommodation and headquarter service. Specially for the short stay, and you'll still get the Berlin experience. It is well located by Speer and Berlin wall. Staff is very helpful and they're friendly, even finding right trains for you. There's a lot to see only around the boat, so if you have a short stay, this is the spot to be and stay over. In boat, there is dormitories as well single cabins to choose from. I recommend to check availability from internet booking.

Room Tip: Check availability from online first.

We stayed in the Western Boat, which was slightly less expensive and probably a little smaller. This suited us fine as we spent most of our time outside. Clean and comfortable - you get what you pay for with this hostel. However, we did have to pay extra for linen and towels (£5). The staff were friendly and very helpful; a cheerful welcome, maps of Berlin and tips, advice on how to get back to the airport etc. We arrived before our checking in time but were able to leave our luggage on board. A good location, we found that Berlin has sites dotted around the city so it would be hard for any hotel or hostel to have a perfect location. Right on the Spree and a stones throw away from the East Side Gallery. Over the bridge to some amazingly cheap restaurants and cafes. Would definitely recommend for the non-fussy traveler.

If you want to walk off the beaten path when looking for a location to hit the hay, shoot for the Eastern comfort (hotel-like) or her sister the Western Comfort (hostel-like, central showers) 10ft downstream. This is no place for people looking for hotel-atmosphere, rather for open the minded traveler who does not set priorities in luxury. Rooms are small (2nd class approx. 70sft plus bathroom 25 sqf. - sleeping up to four. First class somewhat more spacious, approx. 120 sqft plus bathroom 40sqft, but only sleeps two.) regular hotel-style rooms have a private bathroom, camp-style sleeping or even tents on the upper deck are available, too.
The nights are very quiet, no complaints about traffic, even though we had the windows open all night. There is a bar on the upper deck, but folks are very decent and we never got disturbed by noise.
There is a breakfast buffet offered, which makes for a somewhat smooth start into the day. The coffee is horribly thin, but freshly baked rolls, toast, whole grain bread, cheese, cold cuts, jelly, cucumbers, tomatoes, cereal, müsli make up for the coffee. There is an extra charge of € 5 per person/day for it but well worth it.
The staff is multi-lingual, English the main language on the vessel. Who ever we met and talked to was more than helpful, very nice folks! You don't feel like a guest, more like a family member.
Foreign plug adapters, hair dryers, irons, wifi/WLAN, available free of charge. Necessities sold upon request, Internet access via their laptops available.
If we ever come back to Berlin, we would only sleep here, we absolutely loved it.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the river side. First class located on topmost level, 2nd class on river-le...

Really, really friendly staff.
Great location beside the wall. Late bar.
Left my coat and wallet in the bar and they had it for me when I woke up (came to really).
The boat doesn't rock either the way they have it tied up.
Great place and cheap.

Our room, as you can imagine on a boat, was really small. squeezed in two bunk beds a toilet and shower room with a little bit of floor space. Everything was clean and the staff were really helpful. Quite a good location. Berlin is an amazing city
