“our home in Berlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We've been returning to this home almost every three months; I can just confirm all the positive previous reviews. We usually stay longer than planned because we feel so much at home. The late and long breakfasts are usually a delight. The beautiful inner garden and the extraordinary aquariums are signs of the particularity of the owner.

Well-located, easily-accessed cosy boutique hotel in thriving Prenzlauer Berg. Charming, original rooms in good condition. Easy parking on the calm street. Loads of local bars and restaurants around the corner, where you can rub shoulders with academics and artists.

I typically don't stay in €170/night hotels. And if I would expect to be wooed by five star luxury. Introduce Ackselhouse. At exactly this price I had to check in at one building, enter for my room at one two buildings further away and carry my bags up three flights. Let's take one step back. I didn't book the hotel, a friend did. She apologized for the prize. She hadn't found anything cheaper in her vicinity, Fashion Week, .... So now I am up in my room, set back €170 and sweating from the haul. Am I angry? No. I love the room, the style, the tranquility, the view into a beatiful garden, the longe atmosphere of the hotel. Everything about this place is so different from a chain hotel, and so much better, that you'd have to forgive them the baggage haul and the price of admission.

I'm always cautious about giving anything 5 stars but this lovely hotel deserves it! We stayed for 3 nights in June in a studio in Blue Home. The room was beautiful, spotless, and had everything we needed. Prenzlauerberg is an excellent base just 15 minutes from Alexanderplatz. The area was full of tree lined streets, arty graffiti and excellent cafes, bars and restaurants serving delicious food. A lot of time and effort has been dedicated to giving this hotel a tasteful look and feel with treasures from all over the world. The staff were friendly and helpful and by the second morning the waitress remembered what drinks we wanted for breakfast. I can't recommend it highly enough!

We always look for small boutique style hotels and were delighted to find this one. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room we had was big and full of antique furniture - quirky but in a good way. Breakfast was excellent with lots of goodies to choose from. Only three minutes from Alexanderplatz on the tram so an excellent location. Although in a residential area there was a street nearby with loads of restaurants so there was no difficulty in finding somewhere for our evening meal. The only downside was that they don’t accept credit cards. A word of warning to those people who prefer to pay for everything on credit card, Germany in general, do not accept credit cards so be prepared to use cash on your trip to Berlin.

we stayed in the blue house overlloking the courtyard with the stunning pink wall.
Our room was Indonesian style and was roomy and comfortable.Very comfortable bed and
excellent pillows.Wifi was good. The courtyard downstairs leading to the glass house
was lovely but the glasshouse was a delight. really amazingly furnished.
One of the best breakfasts.A very comfortable cafe that had a great outdoor area.
Excellent service.Great coffee and an amazing array of fresh food.A great way to start the
day. It is in a good location.Easy walk into centre. Many many restaurants and cafes a block
away.
The Mexican restaurant nextdoor Papalotl is fantastic.Good to have a drink there at the end of the afternoon .The food was very yummy .
All in all a wonderfull stay.

We stayed 4 nights at "The Blue House". We didn't get the room we thought we had booked - a normal mistake the receptionist said, but we could have the room the two last days, which we did. Check this before you go.
The room with balanese style and tub was delicate. So was the backyard; dripping water, huge pink wall, palms, big balanese bed and garden stored in a dreamy greenhouse.
We loved our long breakfasts at the Club del Mar which is at the ground floor. It's a classy cafe, and the breakfast buffet is a delight - small table where they put new fresh food all the time.
The hotel is in a great area.
We would recomend this place to everyone. Except for the mistake with the room, service was great during our stay both in the reception and especially at breakfast.

Room Tip: Check that you get the room you hope for before you go.
