We had a very pleasant time at Generator Berlin Mitte. The Hostel is located directly in the city center (that's why it's called "Berlin Mitte"), not far from the most famous Berlin sights and even closer to a subway station where you can get everywhere else.
You can walk within a few minutes to the bar district Prenzlauer Berg, but there are also enough bars around the hostel (or you don't even leave the house and go to the bar right in the hostel). If you're not sure where to go, just join the pub crawl which starts every night just across the street.

The accomodation was also amazing! We had booked an eight bed dorm and got rewarded with great roommates. Didn't even think about locking my stuff (sometimes you have to trust your knowledge of human nature), but there is also one locker available for each bed. We had a private bathroom with two showers and all was clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable (considering it's not a five star hotel) and the staff was also very helpful and friendly, especially Dirk and Björn who supplied us with our favorite drinks in the evening ;-).

All in all I can really recommend this hostel, also for its prices!

Thank you for the great experience and see you on my next trip to Berlin!

Room Tip: Just take your key and don't complain all the time about everything!

We booked a 4 bed room for a family trip. No towels? No problem. The very helpful sign on the back if the said "just ask". So we asked. Response? No towels included in a four bed room, only in a two bed room. So we had to pay to rent towels. Web site says nothing about not getting towels in a four bed room. Explain how this can be anything other than a scam. Please.

Room Tip: Choose a two bed room so you get a towel and can have a shower

This hostel was ok. It felt to me like it was quite impersonal and you were treated like a hotel guest rather than being welcomed into the hostel. Having stayed in several hostels before I'm used to more activities being organised by the hostel and was disappointed this wasn't the case, despite the fact that the website advertised events happening in the bar - this was not the case. Staff were not very friendly and it would have been nice if the hostel had notified guests that the station (which they rave about being on the same street) was actually shut! Luckily the hostel is within walking distance of a lot of places! Positives though - I was in a six bed female dorm - bed was clean and comfy. Good ensuite facilities. Free wifi, luggage storage and lockers in the rooms. Happy hour in the bar was also excellent as was the bar food. Not an ideal place for meeting fellow travellers if you are travelling solo. The lounge area is actually just what you see on the photo - two sofas which are rarely free to sit on!

We stayed here for 3 nights after a recommendation from a friend and this hostel surpassed all expectations.

The main selling point for me was the shared spaces. There was a lively bar, a modern coffee/breakfast area and a large space for relaxing with quaint, homely touches such as a bookshelf, sofas and plants. A lot of effort has gone into cultivating the right atmosphere and it definitely pays off. Staff are friendly, helpful and happy to offer recommendations. Our room was small and basic, but clean with comfy beds and an en suite and nicer than any European hostel I've stayed in.

Generator is centrally located with good access to all the main points of interest (although the S-bahn station wasn't open when we went, there is a U-bahn stop extremely close by). In the summer it would be perfect walking distance from most things you'd want to see.

I will definitely be recommending this hostel to all my friends and looking out for the Generator on my next trip around Europe. Amazingly affordable and certainly a place I would revisit.

Lovely, clean hostel (better than some hotels I have stayed in in the past), comfortable beds, nice showers and great location - very near the S bar and a good walk from all the main tourist spots. Bar and food is also very good! Greatly enjoyed my stay and would stay there again!

Great hostel, with renewed apartments and great staff to serve your needs.
Rooms are comfortable and large... get your own locker. Location is good, close to the tube and easy to walk to some touristic points like the tower (just 30 min walking), 2 min from the Synagogue which is one of the stops from the City Tour Sightseeing.

Room Tip: Rooms are clean and you will make some good friends for sure!!
