Travelling with my friend to Berlin for ITB. We planned to leave on Sunday, the last day of ITB. But my friend became very sick after around noon so we had to postpone our train ride and find a place to stay.
I remembered "Heart of Gold" from a stay in 2010. Here I found on a cold winter day hot Coffee and Tea all day for free. This was the offer to go for, because my friend was seeking for chamille tea.
So we went though the snow storm walking from Friedrichstr. train station to the hostel.
It is a modern building with floor heating and floor-to ceiling windows.
Arrived at the lobby I placed my friend in a very loungy chair and booked the bed.
We were placed in a 6 bed dorm but receptionist Mattheo left us alone for the night.
I went several times to reception and got always help with hot Tea, Paracetamol, extra blankets, extra pillow and towels.
The bath room was en suite, clean and eqipped with hot shower and toilet, both in seperate rooms. Also soap and paper towels were provided.
Despite of the fact that the room faces the street we had a quiet night.
Next morning my friend was recovering and we are able to travel by train.
So a big Thank You to all of the staff at "Heart of Gold".
I highly recommend this hostel, because they are prepared for that extra mile, which makes the difference for me.
We stayed at room 407 on the 4th floor. Elevator. It has a tiny balcony. View of Fernsehturm (TV-To...
