My partner and I stayed at the Movenpick Berlin in December on the 'Surprisingly Different' package.

I shall not repeat the comments that have been made by other reviewers, other than to say that this is an excellent hotel, providing a high standard of service in contemporary and innovative surroundings.

The Surprisingly Different package is excellent value for money and is strongly recommended.

Well done Movenpick

We booked the Movenpick having read lots of positive reviews on Trip advisor and can only say we were absolutely delighted. We stayed in a deluxe room which cost €114 per room per night including the buffet breakfast for the two of us - an absolute bargain. The room was spotlessly clean and extremely modern. The only downside as noted by several people, was the lack of privacy - the bath was in the middle of the bedroom which whilst being very stylish was not very functional and better use could have been made of the space in the room. The Hotel staff were extremely friendly and courteous as you would expect in a German Hotel. We dined in the Restaurant 3 times and whilst the menu does not offer the largest selection of meals, those we had were first rate. Having ordered my steak very well done it arrived cooked to perfection (not oozing blood as is the norm) no mean feat for a piece of meat so thick !
We also frequented the Hotel bar each night rather than going into Berlin itself and quite enjoyed the laid back atmosphere on weekdays as well as the piano entertainment on the Friday night. We couldn't believe it when we were given our drinks for free when we had waited 10 minutes for them on a very busy Saturday night especially as they are brought to your table rather than waiting to be served at the bar.
The location of the hotel is fine - it is situated in a quiet area of Berlin but there is a railway station a minute away and Potsdamer Platz is about a ten minute walk so it is extremely easy to get anywhere in the city. We used the U-Bahn frequently and were overjoyed to see that we could change the language on the ticket machines to English which saved a lot of confusion.
Would definitely stay here again.

we are just back from another wonderful stay in the Movenpick, Berlin, and have to say that this is a great hotel. We booked the "Surprisingly different" package , to which we added a few days. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as last time we stayed. In fact, some of the staff even knew that we had stayed there in the summer.

The room was of a very good size, and also the bathroom. Perhaps some people would want much bigger, but we spent most of our time not in the room, but out and about in Berlin. Perhaps the room was a little cold when you come out of the shower, but we found the room very comfortable, especially as it was so cold outside.

The hotel is in a great location, with the S-Bahn and bus stop right outside the hotel, and the U-Bahn just down the road, perhaps a 3-4 minute walk. For getting around Berlin, this is a good location for staying in.

Be warned, it did feel a little cold when going down for breakfast, but perhaps we felt this more after just coming out of a really snug bed! Also the packed lunch that you get with the package is huge, it comes in a large bag, and is perhaps too large to carry around Berlin on a cold winters day. So we actually left some of it in our room to eat later!

We can not believe that a week has passed by so quickly, but Christmas in Berlin is fantastic. This is one of the best cities in the world to visit.

Frohes Neues Jahr.

A friend and I stayed at the Movenpick for a few days in November. The good points were the hotel style, the restaurant food, large rooms with big windows that open, and excellent bathroom facilities. We also had good service in the bar when there was some confusion about the cocktails we had ordered, immediately rectified by 'on the house' - something we should hear more often when mistakes are made. Despite booking a twin room we were first showed to a double, and then to a smoking twin when we complained. We had booked a non-smoking room but because of their mistake with the twin/double we were left with no choice but to take a smoking room - not good and the staff weren't particularly helpful. That said, we couldn't tell that it was a smoking room and it was very comfortable. The hotel is well situated near Potsdamer Platz and Berlin is a walkable city. We had a good Italian meal in a restaurant on the main road about 100 yds from the hotel and excellent breakfast every morning in a cafe on the corner.
