“Trendy room with the out of order lift”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

The hostel has insufficient staff since there is only one staff working in the front desk and we need to line up for 15 mins for check in (the the staff was really nice). Besides, the lobby lounge (bar?) is super crowded and it is difficult to hear others talking to you.

One of the two lifts was out of service on the day we checked in. Many guests were really mad since you need to spend an extra 10 mins for waiting the SLOW ELEVATOR. We saw people complaining about the lift but the front staff was really busy and no one can help actually. We expected that the lift can be fixed on the next day but we were totally wrong.

However, the hostel has a trendy design and the room was great (we have got a terrace). It is quite close to the Alexanderplatz station as well. We might return to this hostel again and hope that both lifts are working properly.

Room Tip: I have got a room (4 beds) at 10/F with terrace

Me and 4 friends stayed here for two nights as part of an interrailing trip in June. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm which was clean, well laid out and comfy! The downstairs bar bit was really cool, the general vibe of the place was really good and for the most part the staff were helpful and friendly. Downside to the room was it had no air con so we had to sleep with the window open (which didn't majorly help with the heat) and as it looked out onto a main road it got really noisy really early. The area itself wasn't great either but you weren't too far from some good restaurants and beer gardens, maybe 20/30 minutes walk? It's also fairly near a major tube station so that proved helpful when getting to a lot of the tourist attractions. Only other downside was the dreadful wifi, we got signal in our room but the system where you have to print off a voucher only worked for us twice over the whole time we were there which proved a pain when trying to organise travels. Overall the stay was great though, cool and clean hostel and very good for the price.

Nice and clean, good and safe storage spaces in the rooms. Our dorm wasn't ensuite but the showers and WC was just down the hallway and very clean. Friendly staff and cool music in the lounge.

Not really situated in the most Berlin-esque block, but I guess good for first time tourists and not too far away from public transport. Alexanderplatz isn't exactly the most inspiring place in Berlin.

The One80 Hostel in Berlin was a great choice! The hostel is relatively new, very trendy and the staff was very helpful. The bedding was super comfortable and the rooms were spacious. Also the prices were extremely reasonable compared to other hostels that we visited.

The hostel has a large open area downstairs that is great for meeting people. There is also a club in the basement of the hostel, but unfortunately it was not open on the nights that we were there.

The immediate vicinity of the hostel was a bit strange and there really wasn't much to do in the surrounding few blocks. However, Alexanderplatz is only a 5 minute walk away. From there the train will take you just about anywhere in the city.

The only complain about the room was that when you showered, the entire bathroom flooded. But in the grand scheme of things this wasn't a big deal and the man at the desk gave us a towel to use as a bath mat.

I would definitely recommend this for your stay if you are looking for a young, trendy hostel in Berlin.

Stayed here for just one night with a friend whilst backpacking around Europe. We arrived before check in and asked to leave our bags. They pointed us in the direction of the luggage room and found out that you had to pay for a locker. Luckily we managed to squeeze our bags into one so it wasn't too costly. The hostel was very clean and the bathroom facilities were excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It is located very close to the centre and near to the S-Bahn and trams. The only downside is that the wifi was difficult to connect to and very slow however there were computers which could be used for free. Overall we had an excellent stay and I would recommend this hostel.

We stayed in the one80 for 3 nights, we arrived late and were well greeted by staff. Our room was a 6 bed room with 3 bunk beds. There were only me and friend booked in. We had the room to ourselves the first night then shared the other 2 nights. Everyone was warm and welcoming. The lobby area was a great place to chat to other travellers and the photo booth added that extra touch with the photos appearing on a electronic wall full of pictures. Great idea. Fabulous hostel would Defo recommend to my friends. Thanks! X

From the website, this place looked like the best place ever, but once you arrive, you realize that you are opposite a row of abandoned buildings which look like they were built in the 60s. When you enter the hostel, the staff are not friendly at all. They seemed like they hated their jobs. (IDK if this is a German thing, but you feel like they are relatively insincere when they are talking to you.) The guys at the reception at night are much better, though. The rooms here are extremely modern and clean, and relatively large.
Extras to this place are breakfast, for 4.90 euros, laundry, for 5.00 euros wash and dry, drinks, for 5.00 euros a beer. Oh, and did I mention that they only serve Carlsberg beer and nothing else and do not allow outside alcohol into the establishment? The wifi here is very slow, but then again you're here to sleep and not surf the web.
As for the beds, they're pretty comfortable, but their bedsheets don't fit (they're square-shaped!), so I put 2 together instead of stretching a square sheet on a rectangular bed. On the plus side, each bed offers 2 sockets, with additional sockets around the room elsewhere.
In the end, other than the cons, this hostel is very clean and modern, and is very close to the tram/S-bahn/U-bahn station at Alexanderplatz, so it's super convenient.
