“Wifi not included, you are kiddin' me!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2009

The Swissotel Berlin is right next door to the Gedächniskirche in old West-Berlin and within walking distance to the KaDeWe, which everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. It is a real 5 star hotel that even has the obligatory telephone in the bathroom. (stupid rule, but they have it.) apart from that the room is good, but you have to pay extra for using the Wifi (that works very well, btw.) - Swissotel: welcome to the 21st century, this really detracts from the overall experience! I did love that the bathroom has both a shower and a bath too. If you can get a room with a view, it must be astounding. I had a nice view of the courtyard, but granted, did not pay much.

The service is impeccable however and breakfast and meals - if you get them at the hotel - are very good. I had some problems getting the included Espresso-machine work, but it was good when I found out. I would have exchanged the machine for Wifi every second though...

Having read the reviews on this site I was quietly confident that the hotel would deliver and it truly did. The staff were so polite and so helpful I doff my hat to them. The hotel has a 1st class feel at a low cost price. I could go on and on but i won't bore you. The hotel is in a brilliant spot for access to shops and the local nightlife. Close to the underground system and the main station at Zoogarden.
Now, if like me you'd like to know how to get there, it couldn't be easier.
if you arriving at Schoenefeld airport simply walk out from arrivals and walk straight to the airports entrance/exit. Once outside if you look to your left you'll see a covered walkway heading north and away from the airport. Walk along the walkway and when prompted take a left down into the basement of the station. Once there you'll notice there isn't a ticket office. Simply walk up to one of the ticket machines and press the language button on the screen so you can begin to understand whats going on. Your destination is Berlin - Zoogarden. The ticket will cost you around 5euros. You will find that the trains the 'airport express' as its called come every half hour.
Once you're at Zoogarden walk outside and with the station behind you, go right. Head that way and you should see the hotel after 3-4mins of walking. I do hope that helps.
If i do get the opportunity to go to Berlin again I'll definitely stay at the Swissotel again.

We stayed here over the New Year period. It is situated in an excellent city centre location – ideal for shopping! First class breakfasts and friendly, helpful staff throughout the establishment. Will stay here again on my next visit to Berlin.

WE travelled to the Swissotel in Berlin with our 9 Month old daughter. The hotel has a great location in Berlin, close to all major shops and sites. I couldnt praise the hotel enough. Staff were very friendly and had great time for children.. The hotel laid on all the essentials needed for an infant. Baby bath, nappies, wipes, bottle warmer, cot , blankets. They even had a bowls of sweets, biscuits and fruit for us on arrival. Rooms were large and very comfortable. We got a fantastic deal with superbreak.com which included breakfast (which is 26 euro) .Overall a great hotel

We were first time tourists in Berlin. Even though this hotel is located relatively close to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations we found ourselves just returning from the sites on the East side each day. There are really no sites near this corporate style hotel. Our room was relatively small, on the 4th floor, with no view except the city street. All the staff was terrific.

I would recommend locating closer to the Tiergarten or on the East side.

I've tended to choose Swissotel's of late due to their high standards and excellent service and the one here in Berlin is no different. Though the building may seem old on the outside the inside is modern and very clean. It has a small fitness suite and sauna but as I didn't use it this time the size wasn't a concern or major factor

The staff, as always, are extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are well kept and furnished. The hotel has several conference rooms and on the 'ground' floor, there's a bar and nice seating area where you can order snacks or just sit and relax.

The hotel is nicely situated with several U and S bahn stations very close by and the Kur'dam is right on your door step with KaDeWe, among may other shops, just a short stroll away. The only downside to staying with Swissotel is that drinks in the bar and breakfast can be very expensive but given there are plenty of places nearby this shouldn't cause too much of a problem.

Swissotel's may not be the cheapest to stay in and may be too 'modern' for some, but for now, they're one of my prefered places due to their quality and as the old adage goes, 'you get what you pay for'

Very clean, good location, great breakfast. the only drawback was that that use of the garage was charged extra.
