Having stayed in the sister hotel Amano before (which is only about 1.5 blocks away), I decided to try the newer Hotel Mani.
Summary: I stayed by myself in both of them and if you're staying by yourself I vote for the Amano. Location is great, hotel is new, and wifi is fast. The biggest issue is the size of the rooms (small compared to similar rooms I've stayed in in Europe). Overall, a good value, though I'd go with the Amano if the price is similar.
Location -- Fantastic. This hotel, like the Amano, has an absolutely fantastic location near Rosenthaler Platz, though it is actually even closer. It is maybe one half block from the u-bahn stop (fyi another hotel, the Circus Hotel, is right here too). To me, this is one of the better places to stay in Berlin, as it is central, easy to walk or take public transportation almost anywhere, etc. (though if you want a more relaxed experience or are traveling with young kids, the area further in the West near the Ku'damm might be a better option).
Common areas -- Staff working the front desk are fine, as are the hallways. Hotel isn't as big as Amano, nor quite as hip feeling, but neither of those are bad things.
Rooms -- the rooms are nice and new. At Amano they have this weird thing where the bathroom is sort of in the room without much of a divider. They don't seem to do this at the Mani. The bathrooms are separate from the rest of the room (meaning like a typical hotel). This would seem to make it better than the Amano, but the problem I had is that the room was really cramped. Sure, I had a single room, but it was one of the tighter rooms I've seen in Europe. There was barely room for my bag. This would get pretty old during a longer stay.
As a plus, the room (which wasn't on the street) was very quiet. Unfortunately the pillows are bad and provide little support (Amano has the same problem)
Wifi -- good, fast wifi. My only complaint is that you have to have a separate code for each device, which ends up being sort of annoying.
