“Great hotel...shame about the breakfast...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Stayed four nights in a City Studio. The room was excellent, with a nice bed. Furnishings are of good quality, and there was a walk in closet.

Staff was very service minded and helpful. Note the late 15:00 check IN time.

Great location, 1 minute walk to the Potsdammer Platz S/U/Rail station

Oui lounge (bar) was nice, good ambience.

My only gripe was that the restaurant, though probably nice for fine dining in the evening is so small that it cannot cope with breakfast. To arrive each day (!) for breakfast only to be told there is a 10-15 minute wait to get a table, I´m sorry that is just not acceptable for a hotel in The Mandalas price range! Get room service if you are on a tight time schedule in the morning, if you want to eat that is!

Practicalities like that matter, and keeps the score short of excellent.

The area to check in was a bit small and cramped and the staff was a bit cold and distant but the hotel itself is wonderful.
I got a suite as I was traveling with a family of 4. They were very helpful in accommodating us by giving 2 rollaways ( most hotels in Europe do not allow a 4th person in the room). The room was emaculate , very large with a wet bar and refrig, the beds really comfortable and the decor very sleek and modern.
The location was great ( across the street from a really interesting film museum ) and a close distance to many important sights. Suggest you do most of your sightseeing research on your own as there is no "concierge" that sits and prepares your day. The staff trys to be helpful while doing this with you but definitely doesn't show much interest. I would definitely recommend staying here as the common areas are lovely and the rooms beautiful and very clean.

Just got back a very happy person from this amazing hotel.

Location is perfect - less than a minute walk to postdamer platz and underground.
Less than a minute walk to a shopping mall, restaurants and everything you need.

Hotel is amazing - staff very helpful and always with a smile.
Rooms - we stayed in the management suite which was perfect.
Spacious, big bathroom and bathtub, a veranda - which was wonderful to sit outside and have a beer.
Big walk in closet - good for all the shopping..
Free wifi which is brilliant and a Samsung tablet! What fun!
Breakfast - everything you need and just yummy!
Spa - wow. Wonderful.

My only compliant is the bed - it's not a 5 star one.. And was actually small and a bit on the hard side.

Either than that all was perfect.

Don't think twice about reserving this hotel, I can not wait to return :-)

the entrance and checking in is a bit small and I started to worry but when I arrived to my room I was so pleased, big modern but comfortable, spacious bathroom
we were here only for one night so we had room service because it was snowing and it was really good and comfy to just stay in
Breakfast is served in a pretty glass room so you feel you are almost outdoor, beautifully served and we the best buffet I have ever seen Just Great

Excellent hotel. Upgraded to a huge room. Fantastic bathroom. Great location. Christmas market outside the hotel. Drank and ate in the Sony centre. Did the hop on hop off bus for sightseeing. Well worth the 22 euros. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Ou breakfast was included. Booked through secret escapes

Spacious bedroom, great room for breakfast and lovely cocktail bar. Exceptionally helpful staff. A tad away from the very centre of the city but easy to walk by the park and the Brandeburg Gate. If you need to the public transport system is cheap but very confusing. .

We stayed here for 5 nights in March - got a very good deal on the Mandala web site. We seem to have been upgraded as we booked a 60 sq m suite and ours must have been at least 80. It had a separate bedroom, living area with dining table and kitchenette. The room was great - the view was of a courtyard but was OK. Design is very modern but I would not call it fantastic. The location is excellent.

As others have indicated we felt the breakfast was outstanding - a 10 out of 10.

Also, there are 3 guest laundries (on various floors) with Miele washers and dryers which are free of charge to use - the laundry rooms also have washing powder and power steam irons and ironing boards - most welcome to tourists on long trips !!

If you want to make a light meal (as travel weary tourists sometimes do) there is a great shopping center just a minute walk away. The kitchenette is really only sufficient to make something like an antipasti plate/sandwiches etc. You need to request dishes but these were delivered within minutes of requesting.

The few quirks we found were:-

- there is no real lobby to speak of / not what you expect in a 5* hotel. The reception desk is very small but this did not adversely impact us.

- it seemed to be necessary to request that your room be serviced when you went out in morning (based on the fact that when we returned on the first day at 5pm it had not been serviced - we queried this and it was done immediately).

- the fridge / mini-bar in our kitchenette did not work well at all - after having a service person look at it twice and declaring it "fine" - we used the balcony to get things really cold - it was around 0℃ when we were there.

- we felt the lighting in the living area was inadequate so they brought us an additional standing lamp.

- it would be nice to have a coffee machine in the kitchenette (not just a kettle and instant coffee)

All in all - an excellent choice and we felt very good value for money.
