“What a fantastic trip!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Only read the negative reviews about this hotel after I have booked it, so was a bit worried but I need not have lost any sleep, The hotel was clean, light, airy and the staff are so pleasant and helpful. Although the hotel is situated in a quiet area, that suited us very well and the convenience of the U-Bahn station was a real plus. My husband and I loved everything about Berlin - lovely city, lovely people and full of history. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel which is within very easy reach of the city centre (5 mins on train, 15 mins walking), with staff who cannot do enough for you then this is the one.

We've stayed at several Mercure hotels. We're most struck by the range of quality and condition. You can't ever be sure exactly what you're going to get as we've stayed at a "high-tech" Mercure (Naples, Italy) and a rundown one with rude staff (Cologne, Germany). Berlin Mitte, however, was just right. It is not in the thick of the action but is in the thick of a construction zone, making entry and exit somewhat difficult. However, the room was spacious and clean with a giant bathroom. The beds were a bit hard, but we've been finding that in most places in Europe. While our room faced a busy street, with the windows closed we couldn't hear a thing outside. Great insulation! This hotel is a good value, very clean and pleasant staff. I'm happy to recommend it.

The hotel is in a quiet location away from the bustle of the centre of the city, but a few feet from the Gleisdreieck metro station on lines U1 and U2 so within minutes you can be at most locations in the city centre.

The hotel looks like it’s been created by knocking several buildings together to create a single building round a shared courtyard (certainly internally there are lots of small flights of stairs on the same floor), which has become a focal point for the bar and breakfast area.

The room was very comfortable, if a little dated in design.

Breakfast was of a very high standard and was regularly replenished

The staff were friendly.

A very good hotel, good value, good location, friendly and professional staff.
Plus: good area, close to public transportation, close to the city center (25 minutes walk), some interesting points of interest nearby (German Technical Museum, Anhalter Bahnhof) also other touristic attractions.
I highly recommend it.

Pros:
Very clean, what is promised of those facilities can all be found inside. Staff is professionally friendly. I rented a bike there for 12 euro one day, AVG price in Berlin. 1 person 2 nights for 100 euro, I found it quite good deal.

Cons:
No nice cafe and bistro around, there is a petrol station shop. For the first time, it is tricky to find where it is. On foot with holiday pace:), it takes around 15 min to reach Potzdamplaze.
