“Great Experience at a Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Everything about this property was fantastic. Everyone from the front desk to concierge to housekeeping to the spa staff were amazing. The breakfast staff were also extremely friendly and attentive. On-point service in a comfortable and beautiful hotel. The hotel is situated in an amazing area, very close to the tiergarten and ka-de-wie is a few blocks away....there is a U-Bahn and S-Bahn station across the street if you prefer not to take cabs. Rooms are extremely well appointed with top of the line amenities and technology. This was my first time in Berlin and although the city was a major reason for me wanting to come back, the hotel also made a great impression. We will definitely return!!!

Room Tip: Choose one of the Jr Suites if you don't mind spending the $$ for the upgrade, they are extremel...

A 2 night stay as part of a BA flight + Hotel package over the weekend . From the moment the Porter took the cases from the boot of the car on Friday until he placed them back in the car taking us back to the airport on Sunday we had a wonderful stay .

Large room and comfortable bed which had a "pillow menu" should you want specific pillows to help you sleep . The room had great views over the city and was quiet . Unusual for a busy hotel . Weekend breakfast ended at 12 noon on Saturday & Sunday - very civilised and a wide choice for all tastes .

Hotel staff in all areas were professional and helpful , just what you expect from a hotel with this name on the door ! A great break and good value for money . Rooms on 9th floor and above all have great views , especially those overlooking the Zoo .

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view - up to 15th floor

Dear Guests of the Waldorf Astoria Berlin

Thank you for your heartfelt review to your stay at the Waldorf Astoria Berlin.

We are really delighted that we could arrange your time in Berlin as a wonderful and comfortable experience. In the coming next few weeks the view about the Berlin city west will be better than before: the renovation of the Bikini House, the traditional cinema “Zoopalast” as well as the memorial church Kaiser - Wilhelm - Gedächtniskirche will be finished and so the neighborhood presents itself as an great place.

We are looking forward to see you soon again, have you both a nice and successful Autumn.

Best regards
your team of the Waldorf Astoria Berlin

I've been in this hotel 1 single night during a business visit to Berlin. The hotel is just amazing: rooms are above 20 m2 and properly equipped, from whirlpool to mirror tv, the bathroom has a major problem: shower door open outside, towels can't be placed near the shower and I feel sorry for people working in service. This is the only detail I would improve. Stuff was very kind and professional but 1 person in the front desk that made its best to be unfriendly, gladly all others have been incredible.

Really enjoyed a weekend stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Berlin.
I was upgraded to a junior suite on arrival. Two highlights were the bed (heavenly - did not want to get out of bed) and the bathroom (walk in shower and well designed tub)

The spa is amazing. Very elegant with therapists that can work magic!

Only negative - high cost for wifi.

Stayed here for 6 nights in August - as HHonors Gold upgraded grom King Junior to King Deluxe Corner room - great floor to ceiling windows both walls with Tiergarten and West Berlin views external shutters, great floor to ceiling drapes and double glazed with a 1 metre space between external and internal glass
Welcome gift was a little scabby/geizig after nice welcome gifts of wine food fruit and mineral water at preceding stays weeks before at Hilton Athens and Hilton Tel Aviv - room luxurious to the eye - an unusual mix of styles and attempt at Jugendstil - nice touches included Apple Computer attached to giant Samsung flatscreen, TV in bathroom mirror, massive bathtub and also separate massive shower with rainfall and hand-held heads Very comfortable bed and nice glassware,Krups Nespresso machine, good fridge with the ability to store your own self-catered drinks/foods without those terrible electronic weight receptacles seen in many hotel fridges Heated marble floor in bathroom, nice entrance hallway with sitdown area to put shoes on, cloth laundry and shoe bags - very luxus
Closer inspection reveals many of the fititngs are made in China - towelling is not up to even Hilton standards - cheap Indian cotton towels branded Waldorf Astoria -unusual for Germany which prides itself on it Oeko- cotton products usually manufactured with silky Turkish cotton -other Hilton source locally manufactured quality cotton products The Waldorf Astoria robe made from microfiber/polyester wadding manufactured in China
Breakfast room is dark dingy and service is appaling - regular waits of 20 minutes or so for coffee and a bottle of water - food offerings poor and not up to Hilton buffet breakfast standards, let alone WaldorfAstoria standards
Assistant Front of House Manager Ms Susanne Franke was very helpful and accomodating - - she even showed me personally to my room at checkin and made herself available throughout my stay - it is a shame other staff in the hotel do not follow her excellent lead - several hiccups during my stay included
1. A six hour wait for 4 extra towels and 4 extra red and white wine glasses - only after contacting reception was this rectified - I go up to my room after a day of touristy stuff and sunbaking in the Tiergarten and no only are my towels/glasses not in my room but also another guest'spersonal information (HHonors Blue card , letter name address and room number clearly not my room number on my working table
2. Breakfast room full - so guests told to go down to café on southeastern corner of hotel -then you are told you will be charged for breakfast and breakfast is very limited - despite staff in breakfast restaurant assuring you all is good - back up to breakfast room which doubles as a French restaurant and a wait for a proper breakfast -this happened to several other guests also
3. Complaint to Mr Daniel Neubauer
Front of House Manager lands on deaf ears -re various issues -no apology no fruit left in room
and 4. At checkout I had prepaid room so just went to desk to confirm all ok - early morning flight to Muenchen - without asking who I was or which room I was leaving or a good morning I was told here was my bill - a bill for a Washington DC based American -name address on ful ldisplay - had to tel lthem several times it was not me

I love Berlin and visit every 3 years or so - it is a vibrant accommodating metropolis full of arts, museums and everything else you could wish for in a holiday destination - the hotel is well placed to Ku'damm (which is not quite Ko - Koenigsallee in Duesseldorf) public transport, airport bus, KaDeWe and after it has overcome its teething issues it will be a wonderful spot to stay again - the location of the hotel is not quite a prime location -the Hardenbergplatz is noisy and frequented by drunken youth as it always has been, and the noise reverberated to my room on a high floor -the pool is small but you can also sunbake on the terrace above the pool
Im looking forward to staying here next time A luxury hotel not only means good accomodations -it also means provision of good service

Room Tip: High room -corner King deluxe suite with Tiergarten views

best location in west berlin. 10 min walk to the gay area. 15 min bus ride from the airport. 1 min from the zoo. uncomparible view to the city. 5 stars pool. room above anything i had before. the service on check out was not the best and abit strange... but i have the feeling that in Geramny they are never perfect in customer service.

Room Tip: high floor is a MUST. ask for a north room.

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin is truly an upscale five star hotel. We have been to Hilton's and Conrads all over the world and Berlin was our fist Waldorf experience. Parking (although expensive) was very clean and safe (camera surveillance). The check in went very smoothly and was of an up level service! As Diamond Hilton members we were upgraded to an King Deluxe Room with view on the 14th floor and it really was a exceptional view of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church ! We also got two complimentary drinks at the Lang Bar. The room was very upscale and on the table was a small cake for my birthday (nice gesture). We went to the pool area, but the pool itself was closed due to maintenance. We used the jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna instead. Also very upscale! It was only strange that policy does not allowed us to order an alcoholic drink at the pool. For our dinner we asked the concierge for a traditional Italian restaurant. The nice lady told us to go to the Long Bar and she would let us know there what she found. About 10 minutes later she told us we got reservations at Bocca (which was the perfect choice for us). After the restaurant we went back to the room and enjoyed our night in the great bed! Next morning we had great breakfast at Romanisches café (even as Diamond members you do not get breakfast in Waldorf, which is normal Waldorf policy). The Waldorf Berlin really was a great experience and we will come back !

Room Tip: View rooms are truly extraordinary !
