“Rooms are expensive and very plain”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel for a few weeks while in Berlin for work. The hotel is basic with no shampoo offered. The man that comes into the rooms to check the mini bar daily does not knock, he walked in on me naked, just out of the shower. The shower leaks water all over the floor, the design of the shower is bad. The free WiFi is nice, but you have to keep going to the front desk and asking for the password, It changes every day. They have a breakfast buffet every morning, it costs 15 Euro which is quite expensive for what you get. They have a laundry service but that is very expensive, 85 Euro to wash a week's worth of clothes. The beds are not comfortable, it's 2 twin beds pushed together. This hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk to the train station. In my opinion, if I'm ever in Berlin again, I would not stay at this hotel.

We spent one night here on June 15th. The hotel is not centrally located, but the main purpose of our trip was to visit the golf super store a block away, so it was perfect for our needs. They offer parking which is sometimes hard to find in Berlin.

We booked a standard room, but since they we're full, they upgraded us to a room facing the river. The room and bed were nice, very clean and comfortable. The reception staff was very welcoming and helpful.

We had dinner and drinks on the riverside terrace, very pleasant way to spend the evening. The appetizer and dessert we shared were extraordinary. They made me wish we had ordered something other than burgers for our main course. Our Big Burgers were fine, but now I'm curious about what the chef might have in the way of more unique offerings. Adding breakfast to our room increased the price by 18 euros (for 2 people). As European hotel breakfasts go, this was up there with some of the best we've seen and the price was very reasonable.

Another reviewer has mentioned the traffic noise. We could hear traffic when we went to sleep, but we did decide to sleep with the window open. It wasn't enough to keep us awake, but I did notice that I could tell when the traffic light changed. When it was red, we could hear the river rather than the cars.

I stayed at the Adrema hotel for one night on the 22nd of May (room 316). I quite liked the hotel. It’s a ‘no luxuries’ kind of place, but it is very comfortable and practical. It has a restaurant, which is also the breakfast room, a bar and a fitness area, with sauna and steam bath, which I didn’t use. The staff is OK, but they could smile a bit more.
On the down side:
The internet: Wi-Fi is free in all areas, but you need a username and password to access it. This is given at reception and is valid until 23.59 of the day you arrive. As I stayed only for one night and had to leave early, I didn’t ask for new access details, but I was unable to use the Internet in the morning. Maybe Wi-Fi access data could be valid for 24 hours, or be cancelled only upon checking-out?;
Location: Berlin has an excellent transport network, so there are a few options to get you into city centre. The one I used most was the bus 245 to the Zoo and then take bus 100 or the U2 line; of course, there are many other options from the Zoo into the city centre. Basically, it will take you some 20 minutes to reach the Brandenburger Tor, for example, from the hotel. I think this is not the perfect base to explore Berlin, especially considering the price I paid.
On the up side (to end on a positive note):
The great breakfast: great variety, tasty food, with typical German options and others a bit more international ones;
The really comfortable bed: I usually don’t like very soft beds, but this one was great, really comfortable and made for a perfect night’s sleep;
The check-in: really fast and efficient, less than 5 minutes.
The room: as I said, no luxuries, but comfortable and practical. Spotlessly clean!
All in all, not the best value for money I’ve ever seen (at € 129 per night, plus € 10 for breakfast), but quite a nice place, a bit far from the city centre. To have free Wi-Fi access in all areas is definitely a plus, despite the issues concerning the access details. It’s a business hotel, useful for the Technical University area, but if you’re on a tourist trip it may be worth searching for cheaper options closer to the centre.

We stayed here 25th March for three nights and found the hotel to be really good. The breakfast was fantastic with a massive choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ideally located for us, bus stop across the road, 245 to the Ku'damn, 10 minutes or less walk to the U Bahn.
Only down side was no tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Try to avoid rooms street side, it gets noisy, the canal side is much nicer. Breakfast is ok, bar is nice. I've stayed here several times over the years. The HVAC is variable depending on the room (sometimes too hot in winter.) the wall thermostats are useless. The staff is friendly.
