“Avoid it. Expensive, text-heavy, disappointing and terrible curation.”
I've been here a few times - when I first visited Berlin in 2003 and several times with visitors since I moved to Berlin in 2007.
Positive aspect: It's very central, and very informative.
Negative aspects: The entry fee is one of the highest in Berlin and is not justified considering Berlin has some of the best museums in the world. The exhibits are indeed informative but very text-heavy (the majority of the text is only in German), outdated and very few (if any) are interactive: as another reviewer said, there is very little effort put into engaging the visitor at all. The audioguide numbers are out of sequence and few and far between.
Honestly, considering the plethora of Berlin Wall museums and memorials in Berlin, many of which are free to enter, I wouldn't recommend visiting this museum to anyone.
Instead, visit the Topography of Terror (free), the Berlin Wall Memorial (free, near Nordbahnhof), and the East Side Gallery (free, open air).
