“"Just fine" hotel with good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

The location is great - just near U-Bahn station with several lines. Easily accessible even at night. Also some spots are open late around there. All the rest about this hotel is normal - nothing extra-ordinary, but nothing bad as well.

Even though I don't like metal cupboards, my single room and bathroom was absolutely fine in regards to its size. There is a small elevator and there is always lots of staff around reception. Breakfast was great. Prices are real friendly and I find that you get a good deal for what you pay. The location is great, even if you are not gay. Both on foot and by S-Bahn many attractions are easy to reach. The only negative is that even though I paid to extend for a late evening check-out and did not get any service or towelchange in the room. This is in general a disease related to the hotelbusiness, but with so many receptionstaff attention could be paid to this.

Hotel is located in the center of Berlins´ gay area, the street has been a center for artists and intellectuals. I like to feel the wings of history.....and doesn´t care about the fact that "it is close to KaDeWe and Potsdamer Platz", places that I don´t want to visit anyway....hm.

My single room was small, very clean, proper furnished, bath tub in the bath room. The whole hotel has a broadloom with leopard pattern, nice....:)
Reception is open 24/7, staff is nice, but not so good english-speakers (with some exception)

Very close to Nollendorfplatz with U-bahn, restaurants, bars, supermarket and much more.
Hotel Breakfast quite expensive (as always) , but coffee is nice and strong, and you will find the usual things.
I give it 3+, and if I get a good offer, I surely will go back.

Stayed here for a weekend break. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are to a very high standard and spacious. Late check out cost is reasonable. Great location and would stay here again without a doubt.

If you are looking for a basic hotel right in the heart of the Gay area then this ideal. The room was clean and large, but a little dated although it had a great shower, free use of safe and late breakfast till 11am was a bonus. Good price with booking .com and really nice desk staff and night porter service. Room WIFI was not good and very slow, but we managed basic emails, although it was better in the public areas.
It was a great base to get to the bars on foot with the main city centre also only a short distance away. Would stay again without question.

Room Tip: not a busy street so a front room was not noisy with traffic.

I really like Berlin so I do come back at least once a year. Since I found Hotel Sachsenhof I also do come back there. I know that I'm not the only one that like this hotel so I tend to book well in advance.

The hotel is situated in Motzstrasse 1 minut from U-Bahn at Nollendorfplatz where U-bahnlines 1-4 passes. Motzstrasse is a very quiet street even in daytime. Anyhow most rooms overlooks the inner or back yard so you can sleep over breakfast (7-11) if you want to.

The wooden furniture, cupboard and walls are in light colours, which I like a lot. All rooms have an en-suite tiled bathroom, a small safe at the writing desk and a shelf for your suitcase. Just beside the reception there is an internet connected computer for the guests to use.

The only negative thing I have to say is that the wifi internet not always works in the guest rooms. However the wifi always works if you sit down in the breakfast room by the reception.

The very best at this hotel are the friendly, helpful and charming ladies that work the reception. They always make me feel welcome and at home.

It was very close to the U-bahn. Everything else about the hotel were fairly satisfactory. Except for the the room I was given, which was disappointing. The wardrobe in the room was a steel cabinet - like the ones the army use. That was a first for me! And the room was so tight that the wardrobe doors couldn't opened fully. I had to keep one door close and open the other one to have an angle into the wardrobe to hang my clothes Other people may criticize the rest of the interior of the hotel, but to me it gave an clean vintage feel.

What I thought would be a benefit about the hotel turned out to bother me. Firstly, the location is in the gay-hub of Berlin. Normally, I welcome it because I enjoy the friendliness and openness of them. However, hotel Sachenhof must have had bad experiences because of it as they require you to hand in your keys each time you exit the hotel (to check how many paying guests comes and goes into the hotel I was told ). Secondly, for 5 days the same staff members working in the breakfast room asked me my room number when I entered the breakfast room (to check how many paying guests comes and goes). Annoying!

The restaurants in the area are below average, except if you are gay there are tons of options. The city council of Berlin must have forgotten to maintain the public areas of Schoneberg compared to the rest of the surrounding areas. There are many small shops in the area and KEDEWE (a luxury department store with many well-known and expensive brand names) is walking distance.

Room Tip: I saw street-viewing rooms when they were cleaned and it seemed bigger than my room. But the gay bar...
