“Good location, dorm smelt like homeless person”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

The good: location close to u-bahn which connects to s-bahn 3 stops away at alexanderplatz. Easy to walk into Mitte though, about 20-30 min walk following the u-bahn line. Staff were really nice.
The bad: not especially friendly place with fellow travellers. People barely address each other in the common room / kitchenette combined area. Showers in my area (dreaded dorm 6) were both terrible. One had the sewerage pipes smell rise up. Minimal room to do anything except stand and press the shower button every 5 seconds otherwise it turns off. No light for the bunk beds, no individual power points except a power board in one end of the room. All lockers were taken up, so someone took more than their fare share of locker space.
The Ugly: I was in a mixed dorm with 5 guys and no other girls (I have been in an 18 bed mixed dorm before) and the stench was nearly unbearable. Some long stayers were in the dorm and it clearly hasnr been clean in months. 1 or 2 of the guys dont wash their clothes so it smelt horrendous. The room was messy, dirty, stunk like skunkness.

Really good location, a lot of excellent breakfast address + café's and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Try Café Im for breakfast during the weekend, they have a luxe buffet incl. russian eggs, champagne,.. Located next to a little park, supermarket accross the road. Really good reception. We tried an appartment and were really pleased. Metroconnection great!
On Sunday you should try the second hand market in Mauerpark!!!

We're in our late 50's - love travelling and wanted to do "do" Berlin on a shoestring - we stayed in an apartment - small kitchen, large bed sitting room, large shower room/toilet. No view from apartment but weren't in long enough to bother!! The location is superb, 5 minutes from Ebeswalder and Prenzlauerallee stations, 4 minutes from the M1 and M10 trams. Loads of excellent bars, cafes and supermarkets within a few minutes’ walk. Lette'mSleep looks a bit rough from the outside but is in a nice area overlooking a children’s play area in the park. Saturday market 100m away.
If flying into Schonefeld - get an ABC travel ticket from one of the numerous machines in the station - one weeks unlimited travel for 36euros. S9 train to town every 20 minutes or regional trains to city centre every 15 - 20 minutes. Best public transport on the planet!! Bike hire at hostel.
Helpful friendly staff at hostel reception. Great value for money - already planning our next trip.

This hostel is located quite close to an S-Bahn & U-Bahn station so getting around the city doesn't tend to take too long. It has plenty of toilets & showers & 2 computers + wifi in the lounge area. I would not recommend staying here if you're looking for a sociable place to hang out and meet people. When I visited it was mainly filled with older people (35+) who needed a cheap place to stay. It was always nice and warm which made it more inviting as it was snowing. Plenty of hot water showers but they would turn themselves off after a few seconds meaning you had to keep pressing the button to get a continuous flow of water. They were kept clean but in some there was a tiny place to put your clothes and getting dressed meant putting your clothes on in the shower cubicle.
We went to Berlin to see the city. We did want to meet other fun people but that was hard in this hostel. The area does have quite a lot of restaurants within a 2-minute walk.
The hostel is wheelchair friendly with a fully accessible shower, toilet and ramps at the entrance.
If you want somewhere cheap to sleep with no frills and very little atmosphere then this is the place for you!

Room Tip: Rooms 1 & 2 look out onto the street so can be noisy at night if the windows are left open. For...

We stayed in the small two person apartment for the week. It was comfortable, spacious and very clean. The full kitchen was great too. The neighborhood is ideal with tons of restaurants, shops and bars nearby. There's a metro stop around the corner too so it's easy to reach other neighborhoods. Great place!

We stayed in a large private room with seprate kitchen and private bathroom! The room was super clean, kitchen was well stocked of utensils and plates! Supermarket just over the road to stock up! The people who worked at the hotel were great! They had a commen room, although we didnt use it much, it always had people in, the area was lovely, full of cafes! Close to Ubahn too! Great place!

Room Tip: Get a the 2 person bed apartment! Its great value!

Great place to stay with friends. Location is perfect, and there is lots of nice cafe's and shops around the area. Very quiet - most of the time.
The staff is very helpfull with places to go out, if you want to.
