“Great hotel but the wifi is dreadful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

I was on business and chose this hotel because of the nice area to work and the advertised wifi. I was really disappointed when I got there and the wifi now was free but limited to 64k and 8 euro per day for 128k. How are you meant to do any work? I wasn't even getting 128k with 15mb documents taking an hour to download. The very courteous staff member said he would see what could be done but didn't do anything. Really when you advertise wifi availability it should not be tiered based on free and pay. And really NH hoteles group get rid of Swiss com. At best they are scam artists trying to squeeze huge money from your customers to provide a service that is the equivalent of 28.8 dialup access from the

The hotel itself is in a great location, the business I was attending wasn't far and it was 15 minute walk from the Berlin tv tower and 5 minuted from the underground.

Transfer from schoenfield airport was only 30 minutes by train. A colleague told me about 1hour or more via car.

The staff were courteous particularly the lady serving breakfast. The rooms were clean but the carpets were a bit worn in places. Local amenities are excellent, aldi, Lidl and more supermarkets within 5 minutes walk.

I would love to recommend this hotel but if you need to work and depend on an Internet connection steer clear. If the wifi was good I would probably rate as very good or excellent overall. Don't advertise something in you don't deliver.

Brian

We stayed at this hotel for a short weekend break, hotel itself is wonderful, suite size rooms with seperate bedroom, nice large kitchen, large bathroom with good size bath tub. Staff are very nice and friendly spoke good English, good choice of food on the breakfast buffet. Only minor downside is the location not real close to major attractions, but than again this way to get around you get to see more of Berlin. Would recommend.

We stayed at NH Berlin Heinrich Heine hotel for four nights in October. The hotel room was huge and more of an apartment with a kitchenette and a couple of chairs. The room was cleaned daily and the bed was really comfortable. The location of the hotel is really handy and only 5 minutes walk from Heinrich Heine Ubahn station. It is also about a 10 minute walk to Oranienstrasse which has some lovely bars and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

We spent six nights here in August. The hotel is in a quiet residential area with excellent transport links to all the main attractions. The hotel staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Our room, like all the rooms, had a separate living area and a small well equipped kitchen, which was cleaned every day. The room was spotless, modern and spacious. You can stock the fridge with goodies from a good supermarket just across the road, a great bakery and an Aldi just outside the entrance. There is also an excellent Thai restaurant which does takeaways. This is a great, well priced hotel and it turned out to be much better than I expected. We would definitely go back.

This hotel was exactly what we needed for a 3 days visit to Berlin. The location was central. Noise levels low and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but good. The rooms where nice and big compared to some other similar star rated hotels. Wi Fi, although not free, worked without any hassle. There is a small kitchen in your apartment/room and with several convenience stores within 5 minutes walking from the hotel it makes the Heinrich Heine a good choice for self-catering.

Whilst I agree with other reviews that this is a great hotel for location and size of rooms (almost like a small appartment), their Wifi charges are not mentioned.....as they're a complete rip off! Their hotel descriptions all say they have WiFi connections and you get 30 minutes free BUT in the lobby ONLY! After that they charge 8.92€ per 24 hours!! That would be approx 267€ for a month - I pay around 26€ for a month at home!!! Most little cafes in many major cities have free WiFi these days so why doesn't this hotel - its not like I'm using their PC....I took my own tablet.
This hotel lies behind an Aldi supermarket off the actual road so is mostly hidden from view so not that easy to spot initially. We picked this hotel mainly for its closeness to our German side of the family - they live at No. 9 and the hotel is No 11 !!

So while this is a nice hotel, if I saw a hotel with free wifi, I would NOT choose the NH hotel.
