“Good place...far from Alexanderplatz”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

If you are looking for a hotel at the city center (Alexanderplatz) then you may want to go to NH Berlin Friedrichstrasse or NH Berlin Mitte- because this one has a wrong name-its almost 4 km from Alexanderplatz, and getting there can be quite winding..and set you back almost EUR 15 one way by taxi. The rooms are good and quiet- but then beds are small and I had to combine two beds to sleep well. Its also quite basic in what it provides in the rooms- so its not a room you would like to spend time in-no balcony and not that many TV channels either-many are in Deutsche.
But the staff are great and helpful-although on this occasion they appeared overwhelmed and it was slow getting a service. The breakfast, the only meal I ha hear, is good and has good variety...but again can be quite boring after many days. The internet is free, but not as fast...so be ready for some frustrations. And it does not help that it expires every 24 hours and one needs to make a beeline for new cards daily!
But this is certainly worth consideration by those looking for life away from the city center, but not s far from the airports.

Room Tip: Please ask for a quieter room and you will get one...even on lower floors

Hotel is not really Alexanderplatz - a 15 minute walk away
Hotel staff polite enough
Room facilities ok but not great - no tea or coffee in room on arrival
I was expecting a lot more having previously stayed in the NH Berlin Mitte which is head and shoulders above the Alexanderplatz
staff were friendly enough
Bed was comfy - room at a comfortable temperature

Although the hotel was very comfortable, it was too far from the centre and certainly not at Alexanderplatz, as advertised. It was inconvenient to get to, as you had to get a tram several stops, then walk, It also seemed everything was an extra charge, such as to use the internet in reception to print off your boarding pass and breakfast was 19 euros! (Fine if your'e a business traveller and the company is paying.) The fitness room was not inside and involved travelling to by tram and the sauna was not open when I wanted to use it - only after 4:00pm. I had previously stayed at Ibis Style at Alexanderplatz and it included a full buffet breakfast buffet, the internet in reception was free, as was printing, They had Tea, coffee, water in reception on hand to help yourself to throughout the day. They even gave you a bottle of water when on arrival. It was much better value than NH Berlin.

A 4-stops (in tram) away from Alexanderplatz, the hotel's personnel were welcoming and speaking fluent English. They even checked for us the fight information when we asked them.
The hotel was fully booked when we got there, so we were given a smoking room although we aren't smoking, but there was no scent of smoke - very good. We're still not sure exactly what, but there was something wrong with the A/C in the hotel - we did hear it working, but we couldn't feel anything. Good thing it was October, so the morning was cool and in the night there was a really nice blanket you could crawl into. As a business hotel they have free wifi in the lobby, some Internet computers (not for free) and coupons for various attractions in Berlin.
The hotel has a small bar where one can drink root beer after a long day of travelling, while watching a soccer game on the TV in the bar or just planning the next day.
Public transportation to and from the hotel is efficient and fast - depending on traffic, it's a 5-minutes ride in the tram (which runs by the hotel every 5 minutes most of the day, in both directions).
All in all, it was a good hotel, but again - don't expect it to be anywhere near Alexanderplatz. And, be sure to check out the nice park close to the hotel (Volkspark Friedrichshain).

My wife and I stayed there for four nights and came back home today.

The room was clean, as you would expect an NH hotel.
Bed was not very convenient, bathroom was clean but on one of the days they didn't change the towels..

DVD player had no remote control and only a "play", eject and an on/off buttons... You can't realy use it like that...
When we asked for one that told us there is no remote...(really...?).

Location is not very close to alexanderplatz, more like 12 min walk or 4 stops on the tram.

Brakefast is 19 ero per person, we didn't take it, Berlin offers you so many great restaurants (try eat your meal on the river side next to the university).

Generally, a nice hotel, not in the center, nice.

Actually not really on Alexander Platz but a fair walk away....staff not really friendly at the front desk and particularly not smiling...they have a policy of charging you in advance on your credit card your entire stay...rooms are fair but really reduced to the essentials and bathrooms are not comfortable....good vast breakfast and expendive wifi.

Rooms where clean, but I found it to be really warm and had a lot of trouble sleeping because of it. Said they had ac but it was creaked all the way and still very very warm in the room. Thank good it was cool out since we had to sleep with the window open. Staff seemed to be a lil lost whenever we talked with them
