“Great find! ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

I initially approached with caution after seeing some of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised with my stay!
I stayed for 3 nights as a mini break.
Arriving at schonefeld airport, we took a taxi that was €40. Not sure what the other options were like - it was just convenience that we opted for this!
Arrived at the hotel which is based in a residential area. It isn't on a main road like some may have you believe and in a morning you can hear the odd car.
Reception staff were really friendly, nothing was too much to ask. Room was clean, beds very comfortable and bathroom satisfactory.
We opted for breakfast, which was continental but did offer bacon, sausage and scrambled egg.
We managed to get around without using the u-bhan, although there is a stop very close by. We walked each day (1.8km!) to the Europa centre, and used the city sightseeing tour as a way to get around. Was fab, as we always knew where we were and what we were looking at!
All in all very happy with my stay, great value for money and excellent staff.
Also...would definitely recommend the Indian restaurant nestled away within the residential area (come out of hotel, go right and right again, continue round the bend and there you'll find it!)

We booked this hotel based on availability of parking. However, it turned out there was only 3 spaces for the hotel - the car park is shared by a car hire company next door and they use the majority of spaces. The hotel shouldn't advertise they have parking as there is basically none.

The hotel itself was comfortable enough, it has been updated. Close to the U bahn. Good variety at breakfast, and it seemed fresh.

This hotel is a solid three stars. It had some great plusses but also a few drawbacks. Considering most rates we saw were 50-100% higher than this property, we do feel that we received a good value for our hotel expenditure.

Pros were cleanliness (exceptional!), air conditioning (hard to find in mid-range properties in Germany), and a really awesome, deep soaking tub in the fully updated bathroom. The quiet location and generally older mix of guests made this a fine place to lay our heads and clean our bodies. In-room coffee, on-premise full breakfast, free parking and a super-cool trouser press would make this a good location for business travelers.

That being said, we were here for pleasure, not business, and wanted a bit more than the area had to offer. This is not the fault of the hotel chain, of course, but rather something for other pleasure travelers to be aware! One HUGE plus was that it is literally a half-block from the Gunzelstrasse U-station, so we could get anywhere we wanted without taxis or a rental car. Very economical! The immediate vicinity is primarily residential, so there were a few good (but not great) restaurants, and very limited (i.e., almost zero) nightlife. This would be ideal for older patrons who may not want a lot of commotion and just want to rest in the evenings, but we are the type who enjoy fine dining, live music, clubbing and other more lively nightlife. This Wilmersdorf district is not the place for such things.

Staff was adequately helpful and provided other assistance as needed. However, we did have conflict with whether the Internet was free or paid. We booked at a site stating it was free, but were not granted free access without a bit of discussion with the front desk. In the end, they made it good, and that was the only hiccup in the service.

We did not use the amenities, mostly deterred by their pricing. The small lobby bar wanted 4 euro for a beer, almost double prices elsewhere. The lobby computer charged by-the-minute for Internet. And the on-premise breakfast buffet was 16 euro per person, whereas any of the local bakeries could fuel us with quiche, pastry and coffee for less than 6 euro apiece.

All in all a solid hotel for the price, but next time we will try to find something more aligned with our personal tastes and needs as leisure travelers.

Room Tip: Neighborhood is quiet so either side of hotel is fine. Blackout curtains keep out morning and after...

It was one of the cleanest hotels around. Though our stay was short, we were made to feel at home with the very friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent and the surroundings conducive to whatever you would love to do.

We stayed at the Leonardo over Easter this year. We checked in about 10 am and the room was ready ( nice surprise ) nice and clean, just what we wanted. We dumped our bags and walked back to the U-Bahn station just around the corner, all of a two minute walk !! Ideal for the city, a couple of stops to Zoologischer Garten then regional to wherever you want. Hauptbanhof is like something out of Star Wars.
Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was good with plenty on offer if you needed it. We were out early and came back late so it was just sleep, shower and breakfast.
Would recommend this hotel as a great centre for sightseeing.

I was staying with my family in this hotel from the 10th to the 14th of April. I only have good words for this hotel. Price is reasonable. It is located very close to the underground train station through which trains run very often and in few minutes you can reach the main sights of the city. Train tickets can be bought at the counter of the hotel.
The hotel is very clean and quiet. Breakfast quite good. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Definitely would recommend this hotel
