“Ok not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We booked early so managed to get a two-room suite pretty cheap. This was good value, the rooms were enormous but the whole hotel looked shabby and run down. The beds in the smaller room were also very narrow. Mercure usually have a much higher standard than this.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights recently. The hotel is located close to Alexanderplatz as the name implies. In fact it's about a 7-10 minute walk from the main square. The area was in the eastern sector before the unification and it is still very austere both in the hotel itself and the surrounding areas. Our room was extremely large, very quiet and quite comfortable but the room and the whole hotel just lacked vibrancy. The bar area was uncomfortable, no one seemed to go there and there was not much to chose from anyway. The hotel staff spoke little English and it was hard to be understood so they could not be particularly helpful in answering our typical touristy questions. Despite all of this we adjusted and enjoyed our stay and the location made up for some of the drawbacks

I have been there with two more friends. The room was very large with large windows with view over the street, clean and quite. Breakfast is too expensive - 18 Eur! Two steps away you'll find a breakfast from 3 Eur. Location is fine, however I didn't feel very safe walking in the neighbourhood at night. The employees who weren't german were friendly. The staying was very positive.

The breakfast is too expensive, you can have one besides the hotel for a much better price, or even going by walk to the Alexanderplatz.
The location is fine.
The service is not good...specially if you use internet on your room with your equipment, the access is terrible.
The room service also is not big deal. The reception service is fine.
The size of the room is very good, even the bath.
