“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

As a general remark the whole stay was very good, yet when it comes to small details here are some comments; the room is a bit small and the design is too much modernized to the extent that i didn't feel comfortable with. As for house keeping, it sucks! Sorry for the language but it was. When i first checked in my room, the sink was filthy and full of hair from someone shaving. Below the desk was a cover of a plastic bottle...as a first impression it wasn't the nicest welcome. Now for the positive signs; the buffet breakfast is amazing however the choices in the menu for other meals is too limited. Now comes the best part - the Marlene Bar - it's the hotspot of Berlin...with it's life band and friendly staff one can't miss it. Finally the location of the hotel is centered with sightseeing and shopping just minutes walking from the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose higher floor renovated rooms for those who are looking for peace of mind

Out of the most Intercontinental properties across Europe , IC Berlin is the place without noise pollution of the city yet is close to major City attractions. Concierge is busy the whole day but the guys are very helpful.Do visit KADEWE shopping mall and do not miss the ood court. Its exceptional.

Room Tip: Book a club room and have free access to Guest Lounge serving variety of food & snacks with Wine...

Dear AvinashChopra,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the InterContinental Berlin.

Our location is on a relatively quiet street with access to a variety of sights, shopping areas and public transport junctions. Additionally, bus line no. 200, which reaches a variety of attractions, stops right in front of our hotel. You can reach KaDeWe within 5-10 minutes by foot.

Our Club InterContinental comes along with a variety of benefits; among them access to all areas of our SPA InterContinental, free snacks and drinks and high-speed internet.

Although India is a long way from Berlin, I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

With best regards

I have just attended a conference at this fantastic hotel.

I was given a lovely deluxe room was very spacious and well-equipped with mod-cons. Really big flat screen TV with a good variety of channels. Bed was very comfortable. The room also had a large sofa in the seating area. Loved the coloured spotlights!! Bathroom was extremely spacious and had all the amenties you would expect in an Intercontinental hotel. It was also spotless!!

I had breakfast and lunch in the LA Cafe which were both very good, enjoyed the wide variety of choice on the buffet, Fantastic Berlin rolls at breakfast. Desserts to die for at lunchtime and they were all minis so you could indulge in two or three, yum!! I also ordered an amazing chicken schnitzel through room service which was delivered promptly, still hot accompanied by a lovely pot of cream orange rooibos tea. Had an excellent gala dinner which was absolutely superb and the service of a very high standard. Had tasty cocktails in Marlene's lounge served with great bar nibbles (ham, olives and crispy cheese rounds), accompanied by great live music. Latte macchiatos also deserve a mention served with fresh slivers of chocolate!!

Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. Kristi at reception was outstanding. Benjamin Haasch in the LA Cafe provided excellent service with a smile and was very attentive. I observed Robert Herr the GM engaging with his team in various locations in this huge hotel which obviously contributes to the great guest experience.

The location is fairly central and close to transport links and the amazing KaDeWe department store.

What a fantastic hotel, I shall definitely return for another visit!!

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms in the West wing are amazing.

Dear cintsa,

thank you very much for your thorough and friendly review which I will be happy to share with our teams.

Given the details within your review, there are only little things which I would like to add: On your next visit, our Michelin star restaurant Hugos on top of the West Wing could make your stay even more pleasant.

Also, our Club InterContinental provides additional value for our visitors such as access to the Club Lounge, free drinks and snacks and a separate meeting room.

It made me proud to read your review on the way, our teams made your stay memorable and I hope to welcome you back in the near future.

With best regards

I have just come back from attending a four night event at the hotel and I thought this was a fantastic hotel.

The front desk staff were friendly and efficient on arrival and departure, the bedroom was well appointed and very clean with a lovely view.

i was part of a group of 250+ attending a conference and the food was consistently good throughout the stay with a great variety to choose from for the breakfast and lunch buffets and lovely presentation. We had an award night as part of our event and the service from the banquet staff was extremely good with perfect timing (awards were presented between each course) and again the food was really good.

I would defiantly recommend this hotel and hope to be able to return again one day.

Dear RMDerby,

we also hope that you will be able to return. Thank you for your great review. It is a pleasure for me to read about your flawless experience during the conference at the InterContinental Berlin.

Next time, you might want to indulge in a Michelin star dinner at Hugos Restaurant to enjoy the even better view from the 14th floor.

Reception staff very helpfull and customer orientated (thank you Geraldine for welcoming and checking us out). Stayed on club room so I could not comment on the majority of the rooms. Very clean and all the services you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Breakfast had everything you would wish for. Spa area is very nice and worth a visit. Bus stop for bus 200 literally infront of the hotel (this bus will take you to all major sightseeings). Overall, a very good stay.

Dear NIKEF2,

thank you for your review which I will forward to our teams, including Geraldine.

Adding our Club InterContinental to your stay provides a range of benefits from the inclusion of breakfast up to the access to a separate meeting room and our lounge. I am pleased that these benefits made your visit even more comfortable.

Bus 200 is one of two bus lines in Berlin which are tailored to foreign visitors and which take you along major sites. The other bus line is 100.

Again, thank you for choosing the InterContinental Berlin and I hope that you will find the time to return soon.

With best regards

I cannot believe that a 5***** hotel would even consider using Vinyl Mattress Covers! Unfortunately this was discovered only after a few uncomfortable nights sleep.
Service should/could be way better! Perfect location though.

Dear madeleine1957,

thank you for staying at the InterContinental Berlin.

Please let me explain the reason for the breathable hygiene covers: We are obliged to provide these covers as they are part of the requirements for our hotel classification. They generally serve hygienic purposes. By using these covers, we guarantee the highest possible cleanliness.

Please excuse any inconvenience caused but I believe that you will find them in most if not all high-class hotels.

I nonetheless hope that you will visit the InterContinental Berlin again in the future and wish you interesting travels until then.

During my recent 4 day stay in Berlin, I experienced a rather sad hotel. "Pfenningfuchser" would be the word in German. Charging for services not consumed, nobody can handle a request / complaint without sending you to somebody else... Sad sad story. Won't stay there again.
