“Simply Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights mid-week. Got upgraded to a superior room and would have had a great view, but it was foggy most mornings. The room itself was very spacious, clean and had great fittings. Could have done with more than 1 of each coffee capsule, but that's me being picky! The breakfast was amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed my bucks fizz each morning. The food really was great. The hotel is ideally situated in Berlin and we found it easy to get about.
All the staff were friendly, smiling and very helpful. Could not have asked for more. If I ever go back to Berlin or know someone who is, I will certainly recommend here

Room Tip: Higher Floors for views over the Tiergarten

Dear Guest

Thank you for recommending the InterContinental Berlin. I will pass along your feedback to our teams and especially the LA Café.

I saw on your profile that you have stayed at Holiday Inn Hotels before which are part of the InterContinental Hotels Group. Therefore - in case you are not a member yet - you might want to consider becoming a Priority Club member which will bring you additional benefits. If you plan on staying at InterContinental Hotels in the future, our Ambassador program could be suitable for you.

Berlin can be foggy during autumn/winter. This is one of the many reasons to return during spring or summer – which I hope you do.

With best regards

Had long weekend at Berlin with wife and her parents. As Priority club member and Ambassador we wanted to have high class stay and we booked club rooms and it was worth it, benefits at club suit us very well, during day we were at christmas market eating sausage and shopping having lunch so at evening after long day out we enjoyed warm cannapees, all cold snacks, excellent sandwich, cheese, wine, other drinks was nice when we had nice time like home livingroom, planning next day and otherwise just relaxing. Staff at club was excellent, youg girls and boys made you feel as welcome can be. Breakfast at club was nice and enough, you got all you wished and that included room price too.
We were like in small Hotel inside hotel, very nice rooms, beds, excellent stay. thank you.

Coming to hotel was different, hole are was blocked by police, fences about 2 blocks, we need to walk with luggage longway and go throw 2 different scanning like airport until we were at Hotel, PM of Israel visited and they really had saftey for him, for us it was experience and staff handled very well, never be so safe place, luckly nothing happend.

Berlin itself its huge place, lot of shopping, christmas markets, places to see, needs many visits to see all with time, there is everything, wort to visit and if you like shopping Intercontinental is just right that area. But by taxi is very easy to go and cheap, when we came back from Brandenburg gate it costs 4km distance for 4 people 10 euro, 2,5 wasnt much to pay when it was freezing to walk and also by subway needed more walking, cannot understand why taxis are cheap in germany.

Recommend hotel and also visit to Christmas markets.

Dear Guest

I would like to thank you that you took the time to share your experience with our hotel. I am very pleased that enjoyed your stay with your wife and her parents at the InterContinental Berlin besides the high security standards during the visit of the Israeli Prime Minister as we as a hotel value your loyalty as an Ambassador and Priority Club member very highly.

I will forward your feedback to our teams and especially the Club InterContinental.

Berlin’s Christmas markets are a great feature of the city during Christmas time. Nonetheless, there are many more reasons to visit the vibrant German capital and I hope to welcome you back soon.

With best regards

I got an upgrade from a superior to a deluxe room, because I booked through Tripadvisor. The room was very spacious and the bathroom beautiful. First hotel ever where I thought the breakfast buffet was excellent: lots of choice and chefs preparing eggs on the spot for you. Did not think the concierge was very friendly/ helping though. Location is close to Ku'damm, but next time I would prefer to stay in Mitte. Pillows very soft, but that's a German thing. View from the 5th on the entrance: not very interesting. It's relatively expensive, but when you see the rooms you kind of understand.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review of our hotel. I will forward your feedback that they were the first to really wow you with their breakfast to our LA Café team.

On the other hand, I regret that your experience with our concierge did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves with an “In the know” concierge service which includes insider knowledge and exceptional friendliness. Therefore I took your feedback as occasion to emphasize this goal with the team once again.

I am glad that this did not affect your stay at the InterContinental Berlin negatively and besides your intention to stay closer to Mitte next time, I hope to welcome you back again soon.

With best regards

We recently spent a weekend in Berlin - and as usual- us choosing this hotel was based on the research we always do on Trip Advisor. The reviews I saw of the hotel were excellent - and I can safely say - we were not let down!

It all starts at the check in - which was quick and very friendly. We spoilt ourseves with a junior suite - which was spacious and very clean. It had a really nice shower - which is one of the things I take note off in my travels!

The breakfast as people have said before - was amazing - with so much choice - go there hungry! I didnt waste much time on the traditional "english" breakfast - but rather tried the different breads, smoked salmon, cheeses and meats. There was champaigne if thats what you felt like.

Breakfast was not included in my room rate - but it was good value at 20 euros per person.

The bar at night had a nice atmosphere - and they give you snacks with your selected beverage. There was a pianist - who was good and not intrusive.

The hotel is positioned very close to the main shopping area in Berlin - although there wernt many decent restuarants close by at night- the Concierge showed us where to go.

There is a feel that this is more of a business hotel- so be warned - but that didnt bother me at all.

We will able to check out late when departing - a taxi to the airport was around 20 euros.

Hotel was very nice. Rooms were a bit small, and for some reason the TV was behind a glass door, and could not be watched from the bed. The location is ok, but I would recommend staying closer to Mitte.

Dear Guest

thank you for your review. The InterContinental Berlin has a wide range of rooms fitting the diverse needs of our guests. The room you refer to features our cubicle, a flexible interior element and which can be turned so that you can watch TV from the bed. Nonetheless, other rooms, which include modern flatscreen TVs, are possibly more to your liking. Upon check-in, you can let our front office team know what kind of preferences you have for your room.

You can reach Mitte from our hotel within ten minutes by public transport by taking the bus 200 which leaves directly in front of the InterContinental Berlin. If you have your own transport or take a taxi, you are even faster. Therefore, many guests choose our hotel as they benefit from the location with close proximity to the airport, the City West and Mitte.

Besides your recommendation to stay closer to Mitte, I hope to be able to welcome you back at the InterContinental Berlin in the not too distant future!

Luxury hotel located close to the Tiergarden, Berlin Zoo and Kurfurstendamm, about 7 mins walk to KaDeWe & to the U Bahn at either Wittenbergplatz or Zoologischer Garden, so great transport links and ideal for shopping. Taxi’s are always available day & night from outside the hotel & if one is not waiting the concierge will always hail one for you.
The Intercontinental is only 20 mins by taxi from Tegel Airport (cost approx 16Euros).

The reception staff are very welcoming, friendly and efficient and they had accommodated my request for a quiet room. Priority Club members receive complimentary newspapers and a 2.00 pm late check out as a minimum.

The lobby is spacious with plenty of comfortable seating areas, Marlene’s Bar just off the lobby features live music from about 9.30pm.

Breakfast served until 11.00 am everyday in the LA Café is excellent with a good choice of fresh fruits, juices, cereal, yogurts, breads and a cold buffet of ham, cheeses, smoked salmon and the hot selection provides eggs, bacon, sausages, mini beef burgers, tomatoes, fried potatoes and the chef will cook to order omelettes, waffles & pancakes. A nice touch for anyone travelling with small children is that at weekends a special children buffet is also provided. Service was friendly & efficient. At busy times, adjacent overspill areas are used to accommodate guests dining.

The leisure facilities are good with the gym open 24/7 and the pool & jacuzzi till late. There is an additional charge for the sauna. This complex is located in the west-wing of the hotel.

A Business Centre is located off the reception area; however there is a charge for internet use.

The bedrooms are stylish, quiet with effective air conditioning. We had booked a superior room, which is the basic type of room, located in the west wing overlooking an internal courtyard. Décor was in muted tones and relaxing.

The bed is very comfortable with good pillows and quality linens. The clothes hanging space is in the bathroom, which may not be ideal for some.
Good quality toiletries are replenished everyday. There is an illuminated magnifying shaving mirror and a good supply of fluffy towels, bathrobes & slippers.
An overhead shower is contained within the bath, and an additional directional shower head is also provided

A mini-bar, iPod docking station/radio/alarm, tea & coffee facilities, free safe (with laptop charging facility), iron & ironing board, work station and electronic do not disturb signs ensure that all your needs are catered for. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the room, and you can upgrade for a supplement if you want higher download speeds, but for just checking emails the complimentary version works fine.

The multi station HD TV features English language channels including BBC News, CNN, BBC1 HD, ITV1HD, Channel 4, Channel 5 and E4, it also has a facility to record, however it is only a relatively small screen, so that the downside.
The TV is contained within a swinging glass cabinet which can be twisted round so this can be watched from the bath making the bathroom sort of open plan. The separate toilet cubicle is contained behind a glass door.

Recommended for leisure or business stay.

This might very well be the most thorough review we have ever received. Thank you for taking the time to comment on the InterContinental Berlin in such length. I am honored that you recommend our hotel as a TripAdvisor senior contributor.

I will forward your feedback to our teams to encourage them to keep up the good work. I am also pleased that you enjoyed our recently refurbished SPA InterContinental and the rooms in our East Wing, which feature flexible elements such as the cubicle. The rooms in the West Wing have larger screens and a different set-up The InterContinental Berlin has a variety of rooms for different needs and upon check-in you can describe your needs so that our team will find the right room for you.

I would like to recommend the Club InterContinental which provides guests with a separate check-in and free snacks and drinks for an additional charge.

With all that said, your review will be of great value to many of our guests as it describes many different aspects of the InterContinental Berlin and I hope to welcome you back soon.

Stayed for three nights. Hotel is a short walk from the bus & train station at Berlin Zoo and around twenty minutes bus ride from Tegel airport. Easy & quick check in. Room spacious with mini bar, lounge area & a stunning bath/shower room. Staff at reception were very helpful & the Concierge was just fantastic. Did not use the pool/sauna etc so cannot comment. Didnt buy any drinks in the bar so unsure of prices. Buffet breakfast was really good. Bus stops right outside hotel for all the famous sights. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars. We were slightly too early for the Christmas Markets which were just setting up but did go to the one at Potsdam Platz. Hot wine & apple donuts. Weather was very cold but dry. WOuld receommend and would stay again.

Thank you for recommending the InterContinental Berlin. I will forward you feedback to our teams.

Our concierges always stay up to date when it comes to recent trends in Berlin. So be sure to ask them for hints on the city’s hot spots upon your return. During Christmas time, the number of Christmas markets is seemingly endless and the concierges' guidance will lead you to the most interesting.

I hope to welcome you back soon.
