“Good food, amazing view, ridiculous booking system”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Been a few times and the food is good - traditional German fayre such as Konigsberger klopse although, perhaps to help recreate that authentic GDR feel, many of the dishes on the menu tend to be "not available"!
Lovely views of the city of course but the things that will drive you crazy is the absurd booking system. Go online (no you can't book there, no you can't book by phone) and fill in an absurdly detailed booking form (your home address etc) where you are asked which days and which time you would like your table. Then click send. Then get an email reply saying this slot is fully booked. Then repeat the whole process again with a new date or time. Then get an email saying this slot is fully booked...then either give up or repeat again and again and again....
Absolutely ridiculous.

“Fantastic evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I had wanted to take my boyfriend here for his birthday whilst we were over visiting in Berlin. We checked tables and forgot to book in the morning ( big mistake, it gets busy!) We got back from our days activities and quickly booked, and then got a cab to the tower. What we didn't realise was just how long it takes to get up the tower!

First you have to que and purchase a ticket (a tad annoying when you are going to be spending money in a non cheap restaurant up the top!) Then you have to wait for your allocated time slot before you are able to que for the lift. There is one lift going up. one.tiny.lift. This means you have to wait about half hour before you can get in to it because it can only take about 7 people at a time!

Our table was booked for 6 and we didn't get up to the restaurant until nearly 6.45. We explained this to the host and really made his best efforts to find us a table. He managed to shuffle a few things around and found us a table, right next to the window! From there on the evening got better and better. The view is amazing, Berlin is so flat you can see for miles on a clear night. The food was lovely, a good portion and the wine was really nice. The service was good and I didn't feel rushed at all.

I would go again, but plan more time for the bit below. It is definitely more of a restaurant that you would go to for special occasions due to the prices though.

“Worth The View But Not The Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Definately go for the view, but skip a meal at the restaurant. Take coffee and cake instead, can't go too wrong with this, so as to enjoy the revolving view.

“So-so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

It all started with a lack of organization at the bottom, we were almost late for booked the time. The portions are very small with fine pitch, but - no tables covered with cloth. Service is good, but confusing, because takes the order one waiter brings another, removes the third. Kind of good, but in the evening all the spoils ceiling with LED backlight - its light reflected in the glass. The account does not match the quality and quantity of food. Visit is just for what to visit, because another similar restaurant is hard to find. But no more.

“Great place, poor food and organization!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

I've been there with two friends. the place is amazing and u have a beautiful view of the city. the only thing is that u have to get used to the sliding floor that is turning around with u over.
the restaurant, on the other side, was really poor. waitress didn't speak a good english and the food was bad. I had an horrible Caesar salad (how can they call it like that) and they brought me the caesar salad together with my main dish! so, when i got the main dish, it wasn't really warm! I had veal with puré and red savoy cabbage. nothing special.
the wine list is ok, but wine on glass is nothing special.
the price in the end was a real hit! u pay for the elevator and then a really expensive dinner! I'll never do it again! 150euro for three salads and three mini veal with 2 glasses of wine and a beer. nothing else. add the 36euro for the elevator (12 each). almost 200euros for crappy food, bad organization and a nice view. once in a life.......
