“Great location near Berliner Dom”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013 via mobile

This hotel has a fabulous location. Just by turning right out the front door and walking a block you are on a major roadway with many shops and restaurant choices. The location was excellent for my family to explore Berlin. You are also a short walk from the UBahn. We parked our car in the underground garge for 15€ a day which was very convenient.
The only fault I have is that our room was heavily smoked in before our arrival. Actually the whole 5th floor was smokey. I do prefer a nonsmoking hotel. We left the windows when we went out for dinner and it was slightly better upon our return.
Stay here for a great location for a reasonable price.

excellent location, nice rooms, and decent upkeep are unfortunately matched with poor attitude of the staff who attempts to re-educate guests. Examples: when I arrived earlier I was not let into the room until the official check in time only because the room I was assigned to was blocked by mistake (according to the staff) till an hour before checkin deadline and the staff refused to give me other earlier emptied rooma despite the fact that all were the same type (88 out of 94 are similar rooms). Free coffee in the lobby is not available early morning because, according to the staff, guests coming from discos used to drink it all, and had too much fun. The wireless network name is printed with mistake when you checkin and ask for wireless access but correction is communicated immediately only to capriciously selected guests, the rest has to try and call back. So if you expect the minimum of what legally required by the staff to do (as explained to me by one staff member) you will not be disappointed, otherwise remember that you are not legally obligated to stay in this hotel and search for some others.

The hotel was nice, our room was a small one but was nice, just the bathroom was a bit old and the shower with no glasses but with a plastic curtain was not that hygienic! The check in and check out staff was not that friendly and nice with us, luckly during our stay we had the possibilities to meet Ralph as receptionist who helped us with everything we need recommending us great place to go, him was a great guy, the best!

Stayed here for three nights and found it to be a great base for our first visit to Berlin. Our room was a good size, the only downside being quite a strong smell of cigarette smoke. This improved after we left the windows open for a bit.

We found being so close to the Hackescher Markt handy for accessing restaurants at night; there's a good tapas place as well as a couple of good Italians. The hotel itself doesn't have much going on in terms of a bar or food at night but that keeps it quiet. The breakfasts are very good but it can get very busy. We ate at the Radisson Blu around the corner one evening (with the aquarium in the foyer) and had an excellent meal. All in all an enjoyable stay if cold!

I have just returned from staying four nights at the Alexander Plaza in Berlin and would recommend this hotel. It is well placed in the city - in a quiet side street, but just a couple of minutes walk away from the nearest tram, bus and train station, which will take you to all the sights. The 'old quarter' with it's quaint cobbled streets, shops, pretty buildings and church is also a five minute walk away.

The hotel is very attractive and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and modern, although some are larger than others. There are hairdryers in the room, but for anyone wanting to make their own drinks, they will need to take a travel kettle etc with them (although coffee/tea from room service is only a couple of Euros).

The breakfast is really good, with a wide choice which includes bacon/sausage/eggs, cereals, fruit, cake, cold meats and cheeses.

Although I didn't use it, there was also a sauna and small fitness room.

Situated near Alexander Platz, Hackensher Markt and the Xmas Market, this hotel was excellent and difficult to fault. Spacious third-floor room which was comfortable and clean, with the only absent facility that of tea/coffee-making. Reception and bar-staff were super-friendly, which helped make the stay all the more enjoyable, and the buffet breakfast was sumptuous and tasty in a relaxed atmosphere. Sauna and Spa facilities were a big bonus! With the train station nearby, the hotel was a great location for our excursions around and outside the city. Would definitely stay again!
