“Excellent and very well situated hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I stayed for 4 nights in April and had an excellent stay. The hotel is modern, very well situated and the gigantic Aquadome definitely the eye-catcher of the hotel.

First of all I got a room on the 5th floor with streetside view and balcony. The room was modern, had all facilities and was most of all very clean and quiet at night. I would like to mention the cleaning staff who did an excellent job. It was like entering a fresh new room every day! (even folded up clothing hanging on a chair)

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpfull. Nothing seemed to be a problem and everything was done with a smile. The Spa and wellness situated at -1 and Atrium Lobby bar are both very welcoming after a busy day. The Spa has all the required facilities (pool, sauna, steam,..) and the bar has a wide choice of snacks, spirits and cocktails. Do try the Ginger Mojito or Mai Tai, these are both excellent.

This hotel exceeded my expectations and I look forward to returning to it soon.

My boyfriend and I stayed here in April for four nights for a short city break. The hotel is in a brilliant location next to Alexanderplatz and the Berliner Dome cathedral. You can get there on a bus from the airport for only 2.40 Euro.

We got there early and didn't expect to be able to check in, but they had a free room on the third floor overlooking the bar/aquarium so we took that. The room was amazing, spacious clean and comfortable with modern decor, adjustable air conditioning, free wifi and great bathrooms. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the bar and aquarium. The glazing on them must be magic as it was silent when they were closed. In fact when you were in your room the hotel was very quiet in general.

The rest of the hotel is great. The restaurant is very good (though at 8 euro a bottle the water is very expensive - but it's quite hard to get tap water in Germany) and breakfast was excellent. We also made use of the swimming pool and sauna, and I had a massage too.

The hotel is staffed by an army of multilingual ultra efficient people who will do anything. Everybody was extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

Room Tip: Although the business class rooms appear to all be on the outside, I would urge people not not be pu...

This hotel is great looking -- the fish tank in the middle is eye-catching and makes a great impression. The room was modern and clean, bathroom spacious, you have a kettle in the room so you can make coffee, tea and chocolate. It was very quiet during the night. We had a room with a balcony, however it was to cold to enjoy it. The staff was polite and helpful. We did not try the breakfast, which is 25 Euro/person. You can get a big sandwich and great coffee in Balzac cafe next to the hotel for 7 Euro, and still have the rest to eat your lunch.

Stayed here for 4 nights 1st to 5th April 2013 based on previous good reports on Tripadvisor and I'm happy to see we weren't disappointed. From Schoenfeld Airport take the 20 minute express train to Alexanderplatz(3.20 euros each single). Its a nice easy 10 minute stroll to the hotel. On entering the lobby the wow factor of seeing the amazing aquarium was evident; the most unique hotel lobby I have ever seen.
Friendly reception staff gave us option of room overlooking the aquarium or outside. No hesitation..had to be a high room looking over the aquarium. We were given Room 5186, 5th floor and, as you will see from my uploaded pics, is a great view.
Never had any problem with noise either from the bar/lobby or in the corridors or room noise from next door. For such a large hotel, that was great.
The immediate area offers fantastic choice of restaurants and bars. 5 minutes walk to the designer shopping area of "Hackescher Markt" has many types of restaurants with all popular cuisines. One bar I would aim for is the 'Ade' Bar at 1 Neue Schonhauser Strase for their "non-stop Happy Hour" as all cocktails are 5euros all day ! Nice modern bar, right in the heart of the chic shopping area.
Back to the hotel, its perfect for most popular sites...5 mins walk to the TV tower, a nice 20 minutes stroll down to the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag. Museum Island and all its offerings are right on the hotel doorstep.
Drinks in the hotel bar are not surprisingly pricey but the 0,5l of beer is only slighjtly dearer than elsewhere. We didn't do breakfast there as at 25euros each was really not on the right side of value. Instead, walk 1 minute along the road to Starbucks lookalike, Balzac Coffee, for great selection of coffees and pastries.
Overall, this is well worth staying at if you can get a fair price(100 euros per night on average). The location alone is great but the rooms are clean and comfortable and that's what really counts

Room Tip: High up (5th or 6th floor) overlooking the aquarium and also quiet as no traffic noise.

We stayed here for four nights in February. Breakfast was excellent and catered for most people's tastes. The Aquarium in the hotel reception area is definitely a talking point, and being able to see it from the hotel's glass lifts was really good.
We had a room overlooking the Cathedral and River Spree, room facilities were excellent.
Travelled from and to the airport on a city bus which was really easy and trouble free, also less expensive than a taxi. The hotel is in a great position for sightseeing, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: People who had a room facing the aquarium mentioned that the rooms were quite dark, whereas our room...

I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to Berlin for his birthday, and we were both so impressed by this hotel. I had emailed before hand after reading reviews on trip advisor to ask for a room on a high floor to get the best view of the aquarium, and ever so accommodating we were allocated a room on the top floor (if I personally were to recommend a place to be however it would be floor 4 or 5) and surprised with a birthday cake for my boyfriend in our room which was amazing! The concierge were very helpful handing out maps and telling us the best places to go for drinks in the area. As it was so cold however we ended up spending alot of time in the hotel, but could think of much worse places to be! The spa was relaxing and clean, although quite small and beds for lounging were all taken on our trips there, and if you're English the many naked people may come as a bit of a surprise!. We ate in the hotel restaurant HEat both nights we were there as the food was just fantastic...the curry soup was the best soup I've ever tasted! The tables have a great view of the cathedral right next to the river spree and the staff were great, again we were treated...this time to a glass of champagne for the birthday celebration! One word of warning! The fabulous aquarium is so fabulous that it is a massive tourist attraction and has a lift for visitors going from top to bottom, so keep your curtains closed when getting in/out of the shower as you will most certainly be spotted in your birthday suit! This hotel really made the trip for us both and would most certainly return.

We stayed here for 4 nights to sight-see in Berlin. Overall, this is an excellent quality hotel, very comfortable room and spotlessly clean. Nice modern bathroom, good storage space. Service from staff is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Never heard a sound when in the room so peace and quiet should give a good night sleep. Location is good - tour buses stop right outside, some shops in the immediate area, close to Alexanderplatz for trains. Plenty of restaurants in nearby area - head for Hackescher Markt (staff at hotel will give you directions).

We did not eat here so cannot comment on breakfast or restaurant (there are cheaper breakfast options surrounding the hotel). My husband used the gym and my friends used the pool and sauna, all met with good feedback (yes, even the naked sauna, they braved it with some towels and we had a good laugh in the pub afterwards). The bar area is very nice with a good atmosphere, although it's not cheap and sufficient for having one drink before heading out in the evening.

Although I give this review 5*'s, a few things I'd suggest for improvement. Our room faced inwards towards the fishtank. This was a lovely view indeed, a real talking point. However, I missed having daylight when opening blinds and just being able to see what the weather was like before getting ready. Consider this when checking in and ask for an outside room if you would prefer this. Plus we felt our rooms just too warm - even with the a/c on all night, it felt stuffy. And with inward facing rooms, opening the balcony doors did not provide any fresh air (this is the reason for my mark of 4 under "sleep quality"). I wasn't keen on the pillows, those very soft sinky ones. You can't prop them up to watch telly in bed, you get no support from them. However I appreciate pillows are subjective. The carpets also didn't feel like a 5* hotel.

In summary I would absolutely stay here again and it would be my preference when in Berlin.
