“Birthday / Easter break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

we had a fantastic time, the hotel was central to all amenities, bought an invaluable Berlin 72 hour welcome travel card for 26.50 euros and we travelled all over Berlin by S-bahn and U-bahn. Loved the Currywurst - local snack. Had a meal on my birthday in the Fernsehturm restaurant, breathtaking views of Berlin by night. A totally amazing experience, loved it !!!!

Stayed for two nights with a friend in Hotel Azimut, Berlin. It's located in the corner of Kurfurstendamm and Joachimstahler Strasse. There is only a short walk from the airport bus that stops at Tiergarten. Our room was located in the cellar - you needed your key for three doors to get into the room. Don't forget your keys when you leave your room - you will have to call for help because you need the key to get out, too! The room was standard, clean, very good and large bathroom with an excellent shower. There are good restaurants near the hotel (many of them Italian). Otherwise there is not much to do in the neighbourhood, so you'd better take the metro for example to Brandenburger Tor, where the new center of Berlin is located. Good breakfast.

As others have written, basic yet clean, excellent location, helpful personnel, and (update) free Internet-no problems what so ever (probably solved former problems). No frills, very cost effective solution!

Spent 5 nights here during a very cold spell with Berlin covered in a carpet of snow. Had an early flight into Schonefeld and arrived at hotel around 11am. Guessed it was way too early to check in so we left luggage at Reception and returned at 3pm. Had booked a great deal through lastminute.com, only paid £35 per night so wasn't expecting anything special roomwise and so it proved to be. Room was on second floor, miles from the hotel entrance and really quite small, so it was back to Reception to inquire about an upgrade. The pleasant receptionist said she had a very nice room on the top floor for an extra €10 per night, number 452. This was altogether different being roughly 3 times the size of the first room and was one of the few rooms to have a balcony, which proved very useful - both as a smoking area for wife and as a fridge for our drinks. There was some road noise to be heard but think it was probably made worse than usual by the roads having been gritted as we never heard it on the first night, prior to the gritting. Given how cold it was outside the room was surprisingly warm as it only had one radiator to heat the cavernous area.. Never ate at the hotel so can't comment on breakfast/restaurant, there were ample cafes/restaurants nearby much more reasonably priced.
Only had a few gripes with the room. A tea/coffee maker would've been useful, though I know are rare in Berlin hotels. A full size sofa would've been nice, there was certainly room for one. The shower pressure was on the slow side and there was no cold water from the tap - even the toilet flushed hot water !!!
All in all a nice room and well worth the extra $10 per night, even with which we paid less than £44 room only.

Room Tip: If arriving from Schonefield the train stops at Zoologischer station, only 2 minute walk from hotel...

My husband and I just returned from our stay in Berlin and we had a wonderful time. We arrived early last Saturday (2/16/13) and a room was ready for us. The hotel is cool, when you walk in there are some neat paintings on the walls and this cool wood carved bannister. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked questions about the buses and trains. We took a cab from the airport upon arrival, don't do that. Take the bus, the X9 or the 109 leave you right by the hotel and its only 2,40 euros a person rather than the 80 euros we paid for car service. We traveled to Paris on this trip too so we took the bus to the airport and back and then again when we left for the States. Anyway, the room was ready when arrived, it was pretty basic, huge windows and high ceilings, antique looking furniture like a secretary desk and armoire. The bathroom was small but clean. The wifi wasn't working while we were there but we used the lobby computer and that was just as well. We had the buffet breakfast on Sunday; it was pretty basic- eggs, croissants, fruit, juices, coffee, teas, cold cuts. The hotel is located by Kurfürstendamm and it has plenty of shopping for people who love to shop on vacation. It is also a couple of blocks to the Zoologischer Garten S + U bahn stops. You can get a lot of trains from this station to take you where you have to go. Use them, they are clean and safe and very affordable to go from one end of Berlin to another. If we got another good deal with this hotel we would definitely come back, it provided us with a good starting point to take in all of Berlin.

The entrance of the hotel is not on the Kurfürstendamm, but its location is so close that the name is justified. Great location! Especially the view from the breakfast room on the Kurfürstendamm is a wonderful start in the day. Breakfast is good but can be very crowded and somewhat choatic but staff really tries hard to keep up. Part of the hotel is quite old with historic parts visible in the interior. It is a bit of a mixed bag; I was apparently lucky with my almost new room, but there seem to be a lot of older rooms with old furniture as well. The hotel is not suitable for disabled due to stairs and steps. Staff is very helpfull and Wifi is free. Really recommended for location and standard as long as you get a good room......

Room Tip: ask for one of the renovated rooms because there seem to be a lot of old ones as well.....

Very good choice if you´re visiting Berlin. The bus from airport comes straight to the hotel and metro station is just few meters away. The biggest shopping street is just around the corner. Hotel itself was clean and comfy and the oild building is beautiful. Rooms were quite small though but it didn´t really matter. I would definitely recommend this ;) And hey, free WiFi!!!!
