“Great place,wonderful people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Probably the best city hotel we have stayed at.Taste, class and friendly environmemt, all combined. We were made to feel very comfortable and very welcome,in very tasteful surroundings. This makes it very much worth the "inconvenience" of being away from the center.Staff were very willing to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We will certainly go back.(smoke detectors are indeed something to be added so that non smokers can be unperturbed)

Room Tip: We had aroom up in the attic:very cosy, still space was ample and the bathroom was unique.

Oh! The Schlosshotel... If you don't like it there, I honestly don't know where else you could stay in Berlin...
The house is so beautiful, there is so much history on it's walls, ceiling, gardens... As well as it's sorroundings. Grunewald is a mint neighborhood. Far from the fuss. Very livable.
Service was impecable as well.
We spent a week there and would come back anytime.
It is perfect to relax, read, sleep, eat and drink well, smoke, chat and date.
Our room was very quiet and private (although the cleaning lady rang the bell twice with the 'do not disturb' sign on).
A minor negative note: there seems to be a problem at the fireplace located at the (smokers) bar in the ground floor. It's chimney doesn't work properly and as the fireplace is lit as night, a lot of smoke gets into the corridors from the first and second floors... And you end up smelling like you've been to a barbecue. Not very flattering with the scenary.
Apart of that, I would definitely recommend the hotel.
I am positive they will get it fixed, and there will be no smoke smell in the future.

Room Tip: Go for a suite!

We stayed here last week for this years fruit logistica and yet again had an incredible experience. Everyone, from the porters to the receptionists to those serving food, was friendly, polite and more than willing to do anything to enhance our stay. It seemed as though all the staff we come into contact with were happy and proud to be there which did really make us feel welcome- we weren't afraid to ask for anything!

The room itself the library suite was immaculate. The bed was one of the comfiest we have ever stayed in . All in all the room was brilliant; as someone else wrote it did feel like we were the first to stay there and it doesn't surprise me that the hotel has won so many awards with such high standards. The attention to detail in the room was lovely and just surpassed all our expectations from the toilet seat to the mini bar fridge all was perfect!

We enjoyed food in the bar and restaurant as well as a fantastic breakfast every morning both all exceptional, and the dining room itself was gorgeous. The spa and pool looked lovely although we didn't have a chance to experience it first hand!

Ultimately there are so many details which make you feel special when staying here. The turn down service, all of it makes for a lovely and unforgettable experience. Whilst it is at the higher end of the spectrum cost wise, if you can afford it, it is definitely worth it! We had a brilliant time and will return for next years show even for a quite weekend before a very special place! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: 15mins from Tegel airport.

We've now stayed in the Schlosshotel for two weekend breaks in Berlin. I'd go so far as to say it's our favourite place to stay in the world. The design, furnishings, service, friendliness of the staff - everything is perfect. It may be a few miles further out from the centre of the city, but the S-Bahn station is a lovely 15-min stroll away, and you may love the hotel and the Grunewlad surroundings so much, that you may decide to stay local. This doesn't feel like a hotel - it feels like you've been invited into someone's stately home, without the pomp and stuffiness.

Excellent converted villa in leafy Grunewald. About 22 euros by taxi from Tegel. 17 euros to Berlin Zoo station. Staff multi-ligual, friendly, helped when I had a problem getting an internet connection. Food delicious, no problems being a veggie. Rooms large, beds comfy, bathrooms good with lots of hot water immediately available, had a fantastic soak with the free bath supplements. Minor downsides, but this being really a bit petty, the rooms are just a touch over-heated, woke up in the night with very dry throat and the lighting controls too complicated with lots of switches to press. I almost a check list to go round switching them off. Not all TV channels working. I guess its not too easy if you are relying on public transport, especially when there is snow on the ground and an icy wind. Local S-bahn station a good 10 minute walk away. What you get is a bit of individuality and style, not bog standard rooms and its all very comfortable, while at meal times you are pampered and spoilt and I don't want to hear anything about starting a diet in the new year, especially if I choose to come back here.

Such a wonderful place! I hope to go back everytime I go back to Berlin! I just adore the main hall, the bar with the cigar cave, those high cealings, that beautiful staircase. The service is just perfect, and the food delicious. Our Room was beautifully decorated... We really had a great time, a place to relax...
