We don't often stay in nicer hotels like this...we tend to usually stay in budget hotels but my husband was able to get a great rate here through work so we splurged. I'm SO glad we did!
The hotel is located a few blocks from the U-Bahn, the Zoo, the Europa Center, and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church as well as many restaurants and shops so the location is great. The room was large, gorgeous, and immaculately clean. Housekeeping replaced the towels every day and the hotel provided robes and slippers in each room as well as a hairdryer (very important to me!). The bed is a REAL king sized bed, not two smaller mattresses put together so you don't fall in the crack in the middle of the night, but the beds still have the typical German two twin comforters on the beds, although the pillows are normal and not the huge soft German pillows. For those that enjoy a cup of tea, there are tea things in the room.
The TV has CNN International on it so you're able to watch a little bit of news in English. We also got a lot of use out of the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna in the fitness area on the first floor. It's open until 11pm and is such a nice way to wind down after a long day of walking around Berlin.
The staff was incredibly helpful and recommended a great place for us to eat breakfast since we didn't want to eat at the hotel. If you're interested, Marché is located on Kurfürstendamm and has a fantastic brunch on the weekends for 13.90 Euros per person :) We had driven to Berlin and discovered after one day of parking in the hotel's parking garage at 20 Euros per day (ouch!) that there was a parking garage for the zoo that was 3 Euros per day so we moved the car. It's a couple of blocks from the hotel so I recommend that you drop off your bags by the front door first and then go park but the savings is well worth the inconvenience of having to walk a few minutes.
We loved this hotel and will definitely stay here again when we go back to Berlin.
