“Average quality at a high price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

My employer paid 149 EUR for a night and for that price I would expect at least an included breakfast. Instead, I had to pay 18 EUR of the breakfast and considering that the breakfast was an ordinary hotel breakfast and not like a nice brunch (like the kind of which I had in a nice restaurant in Copenhagen for the same price) it felt like a rip-off.

There was no free WI-FI anywhere in the hotel, but there were two public computers with printers in the lobby. I was in a hurry to make an online check-in for the flight and I had to kindly ask for the people using the computers to allow me a few minutes for an internet access. The Wi-Fi access in the meeting room was not very convenient as each meeting participant got their own access codes and in our case there were not enough codes for all the participants (maybe they would had given some extra, if needed and asked to). The room was quite basic, but clean. The colours made me feel like I had gone back in time to the 1960's East Germany.

The service in the hotel was ok, but the cleaning staff made some extra pop-ups to the room when I was there. First time it happened during the evening when I arrived and the second time during the morning of departure. At least the cleaners knocked and open the door discretely, but still I wondered that didn't they know when a room has been cleaned or not. One of the receptionists in the lobby did not understand English very well and an older colleague had to come to rescue. During the morning of departure one lady at the reception seemed a bit sour for some reason.

The room was quiet, but the air conditioning was louder than the passing airplanes. Fortunately the air conditioning had three speed settings and it could also be switched off. The bed was quite hard, which I prefer, the pillows were just the right size and the blanket was not too hot. In general, the sleeping quality was good.

I could recommend this hotel, if the prices are right.

Convenience to hotel and shuttle bus only positives about this hotel. Seems like it hasn't been remodeled since the 70's. Carpet worn and dirty. Breakfast staff incredibly rude. No free internet, no coffee or tea in rooms, no amenities to speak of. The smell of jet fuel strong in room if open window, so no air, coughing and headache by morning.

they have a shuttle to and from the airport, but no fixed times. i waited fair time in the cold for it to arrive at airport. the hotel is old, and the rooms are small compared to some other accor hotels in berlin. there is no free wifi, and the price they want to charge is high. use the free computers in ground floor area. staff were ok, and friendly in responding to client needs. overall its average and id recomend staying here only if you have an early morning flight out of tegel etc

Pleasingly renovated older hotel with prompt shuttle service from the airport and plenty of English-speaking staff. Found a sticky drop that looked like urine on my toilet seat, and some speck of something in the shower - otherwise the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Did not look into the breakfast, since other reviewers said the price was outrageous.

I spent 1 night in the mercure berlin tegel for business reason. I was really disapointed!
The hotel is claimed to be a 4 stars but I have been to 3 stars much better than this one. The hotel is very old, the rooms are small. The blanket is very thin and didnt fully cover a double bed. There were only one pillow for a double bed and it was as thin as a small towel...
I have paid for a privilege room which should have been an upgraded room but at the reception they told me that they are all the same rooms... So baiscally I have paid 40 euros more just to have a coffe machine ... And finally last but not least, i have to beg to get a wifi access (which was included in my room price - otherwise it's 3 euros per hour). I got it but was working half of the time... I usually don't complaint about hotels and don't fill up any comment but this time I really have to because paying such a price for what I've got it's unacceptable!!! I will never come back to this hotel and I really advise you to do the same!

Very close to the airport. Shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes. Enjoyed the brief stay. Ordered room service and the meal was delivered hot. Quality of the food was above average for hotel room service. We returned the rental car to the terminal and then took the shuttle to the hotel. All in all a very pleasant experience that I would recommend to others..

I felt ripped off by this place. It's a long walk from the airport (about 1 km) - I didn't see any shuttle bus at the airport when I arrived. No free wi-fi and the pay-for access provides such slow download speed that I gave up. Breakfast not included and, at €18, far too expensive for a place like this. Depressing looking and basically just a very inferior, run-down version of a UK Premier Inn, which would cost significantly less both for room and for breakfast. Avoid like the plague.
