“1 hour and a half waiting for food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We went there on the 24th of december for dinner because the hotel advised it to us.
We understand it is christmas eve but you can't serve with just 3 waiters for this huge restaurant. So we had to waith 1,5 hour for the food and it wasn't even good. (and there weren't even a lot of choices) So we really hated the place at the end even if we were very excited to be there in the beginning.

“A taste of Italy in Berlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

My palate was tired of German food, so we wanted Italian a sites my heritage! We were not let down here! Greeted warmly at the door, escorted to a nice seat and, and menus appeared. I ordered a pasta with a cheese truffle sauce! Fresh truffles are a rare treat! It was prepared at the table. The waiter brought out a large wheel of Parmesan cheese and began scraping it on the inside with a fork. Then he added some alcohol, a flame and started mixing it up to melt the cheese. When melted added pasta water, fresh cooked noodles and sauce, fresh shaved truffles finished it off! My husband had a fillet, cooked as he wished served with a porcini sauce. Te meat was very tender and flavorful! We both tasted each meal and left very satisfied!!!!!

“Great local place....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Wandered to Ristorante Diverso on a Sunday night when my husband and I had just moved to Berlin. We were starving and went to the very first place we found....which is a wonderful neighborhood gem. The meal seemed pricey, but only because the bottle of wine was 40EUR. Portions were generous and the flavors were wonderful. I made an entire meal of the antipasto plate which was wonderfully light but fulfilling. Dessert is a must...and must be shared. We had an excellent tiramisu to cap off the meal.

“terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

The food was mediocre at best for a high price. The service was outright shameless and rude. The waiter refused to seat us outside because he didn't want to set a table. The 'recommended' red wine glass arrived cold straight from a fridge. The main dishes took a very long time to arrive, although the restaurant was far from full. The pizza menu was altogether absent. AVOID this mitte restaurant.

“Decent, but expensive, Italian in the land of schnitzel and beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

Recently in Berlin for a conference, we asked our destination management team to recommend a hotel for 10 people. As it was a rather last-minute request on a Thursday evening we weren't too sure what we would get. We were directed to Diverso. (It turns out our hotel, the Radisson Blu, also recommends them as I just found a voucher for a free glass of Prosecco in my suitcase!)

Pros -
1) We had booked a table outside as the weather was lovely. However, upon arrival, it was more chilly than lovely and so we asked to be moved indoors. The waiter didn't bat an eye - simple told us "cinque minuti" (five minutes) - and went inside to set up a table.
2) The restaurant was staffed by real Italians. Not Germans who spoke Italian, but actual people from Italy. Now I'm not saying you can't get good food from people who aren't of that ethnic group, but my experience over the years has always proven that if you want great Chinese food, a Chinese cook makes a difference (for example). There was a woman from Rome in our group and she got into a chat with some of the staff and realised a few of them grew up right around the corner from where she currently lives!
3) Varied food options - we had everything from hardcore meat eaters, a pregnant woman, a vegetarian and a vegan in the group. We were all able to find food to eat.
4) The food was good, and served in a timely manner. Our colleague from Rome was impressed and nearly everyone had positive things to say about their food.

Cons -
1) It's expensive!!! The food not so much, but the wines are exorbitantly priced. We picked reasonable reds and whites (nothing posh) and some of them ended up costing 45 Euro a bottle!
2) The wines gave some people terrible headaches - not sure if they were too new, or just a bad batch. But for that much money, two or three glasses should not put someone into paracetamol purgatory!
3) The ambiance is a bit rustic and doesn't exactly justify the price range

All in all, it was a good dinner and we had a nice time. I think if it had been 20 or 25% less expensive, we would have rated it much higher. But given the fact that I'm not a fan of German cuisine, I'll keep it in mind next time I visit Berlin... and just remember not to order wine!
