“A Bit Disappointing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

There is no question that this is an excellent hotel. The service is very attentive and the location is simply great.

The spa is very beautiful and well appointed.

Our room was very nice.

The lobby is rather small and crowded. The lobby bar is operpriced.

It is difficult to explain why - but somehow my experience at the Adlon was somehow disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks Unter den Linden

We love this hotel because has atmosphere but during the Easter was so crowded. Breakfast was very tasty. Lobby bar was always crowded as well. We had in lobby bar salad nicoise which was very average but club sendvich was good. We were suprised that Michelin and other restaurant is closed on Sunday. I understand Sunday is closed but no at Eater time.We visited privat spa which was amazing. Service was perfect.

I stayed here overnight for a business trip. I wish I could have stayed longer! Service was fabulous. The room was beautiful...marble, dark wood...the details. And location, location, location! Of course this hotel is also famous for Michael Jackson showing off his baby over the balcony years ago :-)

We spent 4 nights at the Adlon at the end of March to celebrate my husbands “special” birthday. Berlin is somewhere that my husband has always wanted to visit so we decided to turn down a week in the sun to get away from the dreadful British weather and go to an even colder climate – and I don’t regret a minute of it!

I spent many hours trawling through review after review of various hotels covering many different price ranges and kept coming back to the Adlon, I booked it with total confidence (that many people can’t be wrong!) that we would have a wonderful time.

From the moment you arrive you know that this will be special, the doormen are delightful, as is the welcome glass of Processco served in the most amazing foyer. Check in was seamless and in view of it being my husband’s birthday the next day, we were upgraded to a suite, which was wonderful, so do ensure that you mention special occasions as I do feel that they will genuinely want you spoil you.

Our room was stunning overlooking the inner courtyard. Whilst we did not have a view (or a glimpse) of the Brandenburg Gate, with heavy snow having just fallen, our view of the courtyard was magical. The bed was huge and so comfortable, we had an individual quilt cover each which actually was really good, no fighting over the quilt in the middle of the night (has even made me think about introducing it at home….!). The bathroom was spacious with a separate shower and toilet and wonderful toiletries.

We didn’t eat in the hotel; breakfast would have set us back 42E each, so we made good use of the Starbucks straight across the road and with a view of the Brandenburg Gate who wouldn’t! Prior to visiting Berlin we had been recommended a couple of restaurants (Julchen Hoppe and Mutter Hoppe) as well as a great bar we found ourselves (Restaurant Wilhelmstrade 77) all of which I will write reviews for. We can’t comment on the food in the hotel, however previous reviews make it sound amazing.

In relation to location, we had to rely on taxis most evenings as it was just too cold to be walking too far so we felt we were a little bit out of the center. That said, it would be wonderful to be in that position in the summer as it would be great to have a leisurely walk before and after dinner. You are however well placed for some of the main tourist attractions where you are and nothing is too far away, great to spend a lazy evening in the foyer planning where you will go the next day.

I can’t rate it highly enough, every picture on the website is accurate and it really is as amazing as it looks.

Please do treat yourselves, it will be somewhere that you will remember for a long time – especially as you glance to the left when you walk out of the hotel and are presented which the iconic vision of the Brandenburg Gate – enjoy!

The Adlon is the best hotel in which we have ever stayed. The service is impeccable, the setting, luxurious, the rooms are lovely. My advice is that you book the lowest price room for two, and have breakfast included in the rate. The breakfasts are sumptuous, with a lavish spread of all sorts of fruits, pastries, eggs, cereals, German breads, etc.,etc., and even champagne. The hotel is right next to the Brandenburg Gate, an ideal central location.

I've no doubt this is Berlin's finest. And on many counts, it deserves its reputation: the rooms are as well-appointed as any I've ever stayed in (except maybe Raffles in Singapore), the breakfast is unrivalled (everything from fine pastries, 20 different kinds of preserves, and excellent smoked meats to caviar and champagne), and the location is superb. i just wish the concierge had told us the restaurant he recommended didn't take credit cards, that the price for a pick-up at the train station wasn't ten times the cost of a cab, and that the lobby wasn't filled with a busload of wealthy New Yorkers on a shopping trip. We live with those people, but would rather take our vacations without them.

We stayed 5 nights at Adlon and it was absolutely faultless.

The hotel staff from the doorman, concierge, room service, restaurants are all incredibly accommodating. Upon arrival we were seated and offered a welcome drink of Prosecco in the magnificent foyer lounge. We were then escorted to our room and given a tour of the hotel and room.

The hotel bed was a beautiful big king size and rooms were updated and well appointed. Food from room service and restaurants was excellent across the board both quality and quantity. Do yourself a favour and ensure you use the pool and spa as a break on your trip. One day it was cold and raining so we spent half a day swimming and lazing around that beautiful blue roman style pool and spa. It was wonderful and relaxing.

When we were working out our checkout plan the hotel desk suggested we have a wake up call and a coffee delivered to our room to ensure we arose to get to the airport. Brilliant suggestion!

As we checked out there was a breakfast station where we were able to grab a pastry and juice on the way out to the cab.

Every detail was covered and we were delighted with our stay. I would recommend staying here to anyone visiting berlin. The train is right outside the front door, Jerwish Memorial out the back door, Brandenburg Gate outside the hotel.

In addition take the 100 bus from the stop just down in front of the Russian Embassy nearby and it basically tours your around most of Berlin for just 7.50 for a daily ticket. You can then hop on and off where ever you like.

Berlin is a wonderful place to learn about the world and this hotel is equally part of that history and has an esteemed location. Get up early walk out the door to the gate before tourists arrive and you will have it all to yourself.

Room Tip: I honestly don't see how there could be a bad room in the place.
