“Pergamon Masterpiece”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Very impressive the entire Ishtar Gate from Babylon was unearthed by a German archeological team decades ago, moved, and reconstructed inside this museum along with the brightly colored tiled bas relief walls of the very long processional walkway The Ishtar Gate, a part of the Walls of Babylon, is 45 ft high and 100 ft wide. Really breathtaking, built about 575 BC by order of King Nebuchadnezzar II. Also has the Pergamon Altar about 80% intact from 200BC, complete with dozens of friezes depicting the battles between the Gods and Giants.Don't forget to look at the Islamic artifacts also. A great experience if you love ancient History and only €10

“Most Incredible Museum!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

My college-aged daughter is majoring in Ancient History so she wanted to visit the archeological Pergamon Museum during our summer in Berlin. As an art lover, I've been to many, many museums but this place was the most impressive I've ever seen. The entire Ishtar Gate from Babylon was unearthed by a German archeological team decades ago, moved, and reconstructed inside this museum along with the brightly colored, tiled, bas relief walls of the very long processional (walkway)!! The Ishtar Gate, a part of the Walls of Babylon, is 45 ft high and 100 ft wide. Really breathtaking, built about 575 BC by order of King Nebuchadnezzar II. What a thrill to stand inside this structure. This is only one of the many fantastic finds in the museum. Also has the Pergamon Altar (still about 80% intact) from 200BC, complete with dozens of friezes depicting the battles between the Gods and Giants. Once in a lifetime experience, really.

“10euros well-spent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

This must be one of the most obvious but not as popularly visited (such as the Louvre) museums in Europe! Warm and accommodating staff, free multi-lingual audio translation guides, not very tourist-busy (it was a Wednesday afternoon), and not exhaustingly large to enjoy the history.
