“Great for a 3 star hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

The location is very convenient for exploring Berlin, just opposite the train station and a few minutes walk from the underground station. We booked a family room which was vey spacious and lovely decorated. The bathroom was very small and old and the fan was funny and noisy.
Not all the staff was polite and helpful but in general no big problems. There is a lift but stops in between the floors!! So not really accessible for disabled or prams.. A lovely lounge with free access to fruits and hot drinks is opposite the reception. For 6 days they changed the sheets once after requesting so and I think they should pay more attention to cleaning. Breakfast was offered in the bar located next door to the hotel and was a bit tasteless besides some persistent flies above the bread/ bagels area and there was not even one baby chair.. Best part of the deal? Across the street there is a Russian mini market and delicious Russian take away next to it, open 24h! Not very sure if I would like to stay again to the same part of the city though.

Don't be fooled by the hotel's photos, the rooms in the hotel are extremely small. Having said that they are comfortable and well thought out. The shower rooms are also small but perfectly adequate and clean. We were happy with our stay and the hotel is really well located for a sightseeing visit, although we noticed that a lot of business people were staying there too. There is car parking (for a fee) underneath the hotel which is invaluable if you're on a driving trip.

a problem with our flight meant we needed a room for one night. 2 adults and 3 children. The room was booked for us at the Tegal airport for the price of £125. The room was very clean and spacious, good comfortable beds. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location good with excellent transport links, including buses S Bahn. The hotel has a nice little sitting room where you can make a hot drink, as these are not available in the rooms, additionally a private courtyard where you can sit in peace! At the bottom is a cafe/bar where breakfast is served, the menu sounded good but we did not have breakfast so cannot comment on the quality. Checkout not until 11am, good to get ready in the morning, also they have a room that we could store our luggage after checking out as our flight wasn't 'til late afternoon (no extra charge) One downside- our room was at the front- VERY noisy but perhaps to be expected? We are going back to Berlin in the spring and would book this hotel again, though be asking for a room at the back.....

Room Tip: back of the hotel may be more quiet

I was in Berlin for a conference and stayed in Art Hotel Charlottenburger Hof for a week. Although my receipts says double bed room, it was a single bed and the room was extremely small. Bring your own shampoo and showering gel since the one in the hotel is of low quality. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms so it was quite difficult to sleep at night. The window also looked in the back yard and another building so even with open windows fresh air cannot enter the room. I had conference in the same hotel, and the conference room also did not have any air-conditioning. It is positioned on the street side, so it was also very noisy. The stuff in general was ok.

On the more better side, the location of the hotel is excellent. It is next to the S-Bahn station Charlottenburg, so you have direct trains to the center of the city. Also, you can find tons of small restaurants and bars in the area. The room was cleaned each day and I must say I was very satisfied with the cleanliness of the room.

I guess you can find cheaper hotels in Berlin, with the rate of 70 euros per night without breakfast it offers no good value for the money you pay.

Room Tip: Not the single bed rooms, they are extremely small.

This hotel is perfectly located just across the road from Charlottenburg station (S-bahn to central station and centre) and about 100 metres from the U-bahn station Wilmersdorfer Strasse! The area is nice and safe, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is very clean and our room was spacious and had a nice little balcony which we really loved! And the desktop and free WIFI were great! The bathroom was nice and modern, a little bit small though.. The staff was okay, but could be a bit friendlier (not that they were not friendly when you asked them something, but they didn't really say goodbye when you pass the reception desk, and they didn't explain us anything about the hotel (and area, but that's not really necessary) by themselves when we arrived..). The hotel is a bit noisy (in our room we heard other guests speaking and passing by on the corridor) but that's probably because it's an older building.. We booked about half a year in advance and I found it quite expensive!! (140 euros a night for a triple room). When I checked bookings a few days before our arrival, and when I check it now (with several arrival dates in different months) the prices are quite a bit lower, at some dates a bit under and some dates a bit over 100 euros a night for a triple room, but not 140! So probably they dropped their prices, and I think that's better, because 140 euros is just a bit pricey for what you get, for about 100 euros a night it's perfect. You can take breakfast at the bar downstairs for 10 euros per person, which, again, I think it's a bit overpriced. The breakfast buffet is good and there is enough to choose from, but there are cheaper options (we went to several cafes for breakfast, they were all good and we paid around 7,50.. and some mornings we just took a nice sandwich and a coffee from the bakery nearby which was even cheaper)

Small but clean rooms. Free Wifi. Instant coffee, tea and fruit in the am. Across the street from the SBahn. Multiple Restaurants in the area. All rooms involve using stairs. Art throughout the hotel. Nice area for walking.

Room Tip: Street facing rooms can be noisy

Very good value for money and location, situated opposite an S-Bahn Station and with bus links to Tegel airport outside. No need to take breakfast as the area is full of cafés and bakeries and the staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Certainly not the largest rooms (they reminded me of a typical budget hotel room in London or Paris) but, for the price, you really can't complain. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a base to explore the wonderful city of Berlin.
