“Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

The Gate has been the backdrop of so many famous images that it is just amazing to see in person.

The famous Hotel Adlon is close by as well, so treat yourself to a nice meal or drink afterwards.

“Another stunning place in Berlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I have seen photos of the Brandenburg Gate all my life and it was an amazing experience to actually be there. We were there at dusk - great for photographs - and again during the daytime. I really enjoyed the visit.

“Very nice and impressive gate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Very nice and impressive, serves as the entrance to Unter den Linden. Highly recommended. Very nice place to images. Traveling before the Reichstag or the memorial to the Holocaust. Light and refreshing after these attractions.

“Berlin for free - Go for the history but avoid the tourist traps!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Brandenburg Gate area was much more tacky than I expected.........SO many people dressed up as Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader, Storm trooper .......Bears, A sliver cowboy and USA soldiers all trying to get you to pay 2 Euros for a photo with them.

Not sure where Mickey Mouse or the Storm trooper comes into the history part of this?! *tacky*

The Brandenburg Gate is impressive but I would recommend going very early morning before the crowds come or later on at night to see it lit up. Otherwise if you go in the daytime one of the characters mentioned above will probably have to be photo-shoped out of your photo!

I looked at older photos of this area so I could do a comparison and also read up a bit on the history of what happened before going - This is useful to do as there wasn't that many plagues around this area.

Plenty of people after your tourist euros though! Lots of rickshaws trying to get customers and poor horses waiting around in the sun for tourists to pull around - least the horses were given water while waiting around.....

Beware of the people with the clip boards - they want you to sign their "petition" and make a donation - they claim they're disabled (deaf) it's a scam don't give them any money.....

Cafe's near by -ice creams, coffee etc

Chargeable city toilets nearby - 0.50 cents or you could try and nip into Starbucks!

“Well...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

When you look at pictures from this place, you don´t see all the buildings close around the great monument. But nevertheless it was an impressing moment to stand in front of the Brandenburger Tor.
