“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

I've never stayed in an Etap before but after this experience I will again. They are very cheap and very basic. If you are somebody who likes to spend time in your hotel room during the day then this hotel isn't for you. It's very close to the train station and it's spotlessly clean. For a 1 or 2 night stay it's perfect.

What I appreciate about this hotel, firstly, is that it's located in the city-center of Berlin where there are plenty of eating places that surround the Alexanderplatz square and are in the modern shopping malls and metro station. The nearest metro station is only a ten-minute walk away from the hotel and is directly connected to not only major sights of attraction, but also to the airport (Hence, you do not need to waste money on airport transfer shuttle.).

Secondly, there is a god-send of a supermarket--adjacent to the hotel--where you can shop for cheap groceries and stock up on your drinkable water supply in your hotel room. It is noteworthy to mention that there is a pastry shop, in the supermarket, that sells affordable, but delicious and authentic German pastries--I would always buy these pastry delights for my breakfasts.

Thirdly, if you intend to check out the night scene in Berlin, you would love this hotel too. This is because it's relatively near to the major pub belts in Berlin. I can still remember vividly that it only cost me around 10 Euros to take a taxi from one of these pub belts back to the hotel.

Fourthly, I really like how new, high-tech, and safe the hotel is despite it being a budget hotel. Point of entry to your room is keyless and cardless; you just need to key in a pin number that will be given to you by the receptionist when you check in. Once in the room, you will notice just how new and clean it is, and give yourself a pat on the shoulder for having found yourself such a good deal. You will also enjoy playing with the high-tech lights from the comfort of your bed by "pressing the right buttons" (no pun intended) on the bed panel.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to my fellow budget travellers; you will find yourself getting unbelievable value for the money that you are going to splash on this hotel. Cheers.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights and were very pleased with the whole trip. Check-in was very quick and staff polite and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were decent sizes, very clean and modern and were perfect for us- we also had an excellent view. The beds were a little hard but not uncomfortable and the pillows a little thin but again, still comfortable. It would of been even better if there were amenities eg. a kettle etc. but we didn't mind too much as there was a vending machine just downstairs. Breakfast was pleasant, with a decent choice/selection of food and drinks, all of which were delicious. The location is excellent for exploring the city with a tram stop just over the road. At night, we heard no traffic if we closed the windows and the room was well heated and ventilated so we didn't get too hot etc. The corridors at night were also very quiet. The rooms were also cleaned thoroughly each day. Check-out was also very quick.

Overall, I would say that this is an excellent place to stay as it is modern and comfortable, in an excellent location and very good value for money. We would definitely return.

Location is very central and well connected to major tourist attractions, though not in the heart of the city. it takes not more than 20mins (avg) to reach any main attraction. The hotel is well maintained and is a good option for those who need to spend time in the room to sleep and are majorly going to Berlin for touristy purpose. No frills room, but they provide toiletries(basic) and linen. The room size is large enough to accomodate 2 adults with luggage.

Over the last 2 months I've stayed in 4-5 different Etaps throughout Europe. This isn't the best one but certainly not the worst.

Pros:
+Location is amazing! Just a couple of minutes walk from Alexanderplatz which was awesome!
+Shower room was very clean and the shower was very nice!
+TV was one of the better TVs that we have had in that it had a few English channels but also had sports channels and music channels.
+Other than the room, the general cleanlyness of the hotel was very good

Cons:
-Price was a little high for an Etap in my opinion. Especially when we found a Holiday Inn for cheaper.
-Room cleanliness was fine when we first arrived. However, when we let the cleaner in to make up the room other than change the towels I couldn't see anything else had changed. She hadn't changed the sheets or anything.
-Sound levels were awful! We were placed in a room that overlooked the main road. At first I was glad of this as it presented a rather pleasent view of Alexanderplatz. However, when we were trying to sleep we could hear every car that went by and were constantly woken by sirens of ambulances or police cars. We tried closing the window which stopped the noise but because the AC didn't work very well this made the room very warm and unbearable.

Overall, it was an okay stay. Stayed in better Etaps but it was ok and would go back again.

We loved BERLIN and this hotel was a very convenient anchor point !!

Just follow the sign for the hotel at the Alexanderplatz station and you will reach there. It is a straight road about 5-10 minutes’ walk. Holiday Inn is in the same block.

We were accommodated in a clean room with a cozy bed for 48 Euros a night is a great price considering the location. The property is new and you can expect whatever you would expect from typical e tap/ibis chain of hotel is you have stayed in one before.

The staff is helpful. And above all BERLIN is a wonderful city!!
