“Excellent apartment hotel in the Mitte district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We spent 4 days in Berlin. The apartments were modern and well appointed. The staff were both extremely friendly and helpful. Close to U-Bahn , restaurants and many of Berlin's historical attractions. An excellent place to base yourself as you explore a sophisticated wonderful city.

My husband, son and I stayed for 3 nights in a two bedroom apartment on the sixth floor. Great view of the Television Tower and very quiet. Bedrooms, bathrooms, living room and kitchen were all clean and comfortably furnished. The hotel is conveniently located a block from the S-Bahn station, grocery stores and countless restaurants. We walked to many of the attractions that we wanted to visit and hopped on the S-Bahn to others. The hotel staff was helpful not only for our requests at the hotel, but also suggesting restaurants and stores in the neighborhood. If I have one complaint it would be the mattresses are too hard-- I awoke with my hip hurting. Overall, a great place to stay and I recommend this Adina highly.

Dear AZ_Born, many thanks for taking the time to write this nice review, It looks like that you really made your way through our public transportation systems and took all the benefits of our location. I am sorry to read, that our mattresses were to hard for you, so far everybody is praising them. But this is always very subjective. Nevertheless I hope this will not keep you away from returning to Adina. All the Best. Kind regards Annette Jost

The hotel's location can't be beat: located in the charming Hackescher Markt, it's situated *right across* from the S Bahn. Transit is excellent in Berlin - combined with foot, you are able to traverse all across the city effortlessly (we only took taxis in the wee hours of them morning, when trains were less frequent).

Surrounding the hotel:
* Various cafes, good shops (Sandro, Camper, etc)
* Good currywurst (Curry 36 is just a few mins away). If you can't make it out to Konnopke (which imo offers an inferior version, even if it's the most well known), then Curry 36 does the job just fine
* A short (10 min) walk to Museum Island
* Grocery store Kaiser just a few mins behind the hotel - great for supplies and general items you may not have been able to pack on your carry on

The rooms are spacious + well equipped. Ours was a studio, and came with a kitchenette (which we never used, cos face it, there are just too many good + interesting eating options in Berlin), iPod dock (great if you have an iPod or older model iPhone), and a very large bathroom (although I must say it was a bit dark in the shower, but this is nitpicking).

The gym is adequate - it's in a long narrow shoe box of a room that has no windows, and the equipment is ok, but nothing stellar. Still, it did its job (for those that like to continue with cardio/weights whilst away from home), and really, you can't expect views + top of the line brand new equipment in every hotel.

For the price, location, and great rooms, this is a no brainer: stay here & enjoy all that Berlin has to offer!

Room Tip: We had a quiet room facing the inner courtyard. You can also request rooms with views of the TV Towe...

We had a 45m2 apartment. It was well equipped with a large separate bedroom, terrace, kitchenette and bathroom (with washing machine and tumble dryer).

The apartment had everything you could want, including a ipod/mp3 dock, and every kitchen gadget known to man.

The communal areas were nice, the spa/gym very good.

Only 4*s due to the poor wifi policy. It's a pay service but "free" in the lobby, in practice you go to reception and a free one hour visitor username and password that work anywhere in the hotel.

You can go back for more... Why charge?! Most of the people in reception are waiting for the log on tickets, and cut the line of guests checking in and out to get them!

Additionally, if you're at the front of the hotel there are several free open (non-hotel) wifi networks!

Dear MrMonkey123, thanks for your short review and your detailed description of our equipment in the apartment. Regarding the Wifi, there are lots of opportunities to have for a small charge Wifi in the room or even for free, if you read the review of the others. Right now we have no choice to modify the given procedures, but hopefully this will come in the future. I hope this will not keep you away from staying with us, when you are in Berlin next time. Kind regards Annette Jost

The Adina exceeded all our expectations. From the helpful courteous staff, to the spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet rooms and the outstanding breakfast, (love those breads!) we were very pleased with our choice. (stayed for six nights) Having our own balcony was a lovely bonus. In addition, it was an easy, reasonable taxi ride to and from Tegel Airport. Staying in the Mitte was perfect and with the hotel so close to the train station at Hackesher Markt, we found it extremely convenient if we wanted to take public transportation. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance and it is a great neighbourhood to explore. A highlight was a twenty minute walk up to the 'uber cool' neighbourhood of Prenzlauerberg, which we loved. It is artsy, edgey and fascinating with incredible architecture, restaurants, shops, bars, the well known Prater Beer Garden and a
wonderful energy that so defines this city. One night, we ate at Pasternak, a wonderful Russian restaurant in Prenzlauerberg. With old worldly charm and incredible food, it was a real treat. Most of all, we loved coming home to the Adina after a long day of sightseeing. It felt very warm and welcoming. It would have been nice to have free WI FI in the rooms. I imagine that will come. We would highly recommend this hotel. (Guests from Vancouver, B.C. Canada)

Room Tip: The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and quiet, as I imagine all the rooms are.

The location is very good. Close to most things like the S-Bahn, the bus, the sight-seeing buses, a supermarket, restaurants, Alexander Platz, TV tower, museum insel, red Rathaus, Hackescher Markt etc. Walking distance from Unter den Linden. Most Adina hotels are very good and this one was very good as well. We had a studio room which was quite big, with a kitchenette. We even had a little balcony!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Although we understand and speak German, their English is very good.
The only thing we were disappointed in was that there was no free wifi in the room! Only in the lobby. One evening we had to listen to someone speaking quite loud on skype! Annoying. They will have to change that to please the guests!

We spent a fortnight in the Adina and really couldn't fault it. It was everything it was boasted to be. Our twin bed apartment looked down upon a busy little streetscape yet was well insulated from traffic noise, its balcony providing a fascinating glimpse into Berlin's passing parade. The rooms were spotless, the bathroom quite spacious, and the kitchen/lounge area a great place to relax in the evening. In short, the apartment was well lit and appointed, providing all the facilities promised in the hotel's advertising including a washing machine and dryer which really were a boon. Our apartment soon became 'home', a cozy retreat after long days spent exploring the S-bahns and U-bahns and battling crowds of tourists on the Unter den Linden and far beyond. It was a happy, busy atmosphere down in the lobby which was run by a round of helpful staff and I have no hesitation in recommending the Adina as a thoroughly comfortable stay in a location that is central to the very heart of Berlin. The Hackescher Markt has an extremely convenient railway station surrounded by open-air eateries, shops and indeed a market. It is quite simply a wonderful spot, lively and inviting. The hotel itself is well within walking distance of the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Holocaust Memorial and the delightful woodland walks of the Tiergarten. It is a mere stone's throw from Museum Island which hosts a wonderful array of galleries and museums including the incomparable Pergamon Museum. Berlin is rich in art galleries and further afield is the Gemaldegalerie, Berlinische, and the very moving Kathe-Kollwitz-Museum (a must-see). To cut a long story short, let me just say that Berlin is a fascinating city grown out of the devastation of WW2 and which to some degree is still reconstructing itself after the Cold War period, and the Adina is a great place to explore it from. Berlin has an energy and atmosphere like no other place I have ever been.

Dear JennieLeslie, what an amazing review. It is really a great summary about Berlin and Adina and shows how vivid the city is. Adina is the right starting point to explore the transformation of the city and my team is happy to assist with advices. As you stayed a fortnight you could investigate in all different parts of history and locations and I am happy to read that we could provide you a home away from home during this time. I can assure there is more to discover in Berlin and more to come, so please do not hesitate to come again. Looking forward to it. Kind regards Annette Jost
