On a recent visit to Berlin I took the Vive Third Reich Tour. The reason I chose Vive was that the tour went to places the other companies don't, like the Olympic Stadium and Track 17. My guide for the day was Phillip. He was one of the best guides I have experienced. His knowledge and ability to explain the "why" and "how" is superb, and his command of English is excellent. As we were running late, he asked me if I minded if the tour went a little over time, and of course I didn't mind at all. We spent a fair bit of time at the Olympic Stadium, where Phillip explained the importance of the 1936 games to the Nazis. We then continued to Grunewald railway station and visited Track 17, from where so many Jews were deported to the concentration camps - again, Phillip gave excellent insights and commentary. From there we enjoyed a walking tour of the residential district of Shoneberg, before ending the tour at Wilhelmstrasse and the Topography of Terror memorial.
All in all, it was a fantastic day and Phillip really made the day - I can't recommend him highly enough.
