We had a nice meal at Transit on our first night in Berlin. The food is very good and very fairly priced. We chose to order the small meals and share amongst ourselves. The small dishes cost only 3 EUR each and we had two each plus a 3 EUR side of either rice or noodles. We had made a reservation and were glad of this when we saw that people were queueing out of the door to get in. This place is obviously very popular. It took us a few minutes to catch a member of staff's attention as there is no desk at the front. We were then told that they had no record of our reservation. During this time there were others without reservations being seated. After another few minutes the member of staff returned to say they would offer us a table anyway. However, we were put right in the corner by the cloak room and the narrow passageway used by staff to get to and from the kitchen. We just felt like a bit of an afterthought, especially considering I had shared emails with the restaurant a few weeks before explaining that we were coming from England and particularly wanted to dine there. The service was okay but nothing special. It was a shame that a nice meal was spoilt by this service error.
