“Very good location - and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2010

We stayed in Berlin for a leisurely long weekend, and stayed at the Berlin Habitat because it was cheaper then hotel and close to the center, with an underground station within 3 min walk (it was winter, so every minute counts). Berlin is a lovely city that can be toured with public transport, so we did not rent a car at all, and only took one day tour to Potsdam.
The apartment was a 1 room with kitchen, and a bathroom. It was exactly what we needed. We met the owner, Stefan, at the next building where he lives, and he got us in. Since he had spent some time in the States, his English is flawless. He also was very informative about local issues. Place was clean and airy, with plenty of light.
As long as the price stays reasonable, (60-70 euro per night), It is a very good alternative to a local hotel. The supermarket is just 3-4 minutes' walk as well, and food there, including cooked, is relatively cheap.

ps - The apartment has free internet we mainly used for Skyping and search for Berlin restaurants using our laptop.

When I found out that I had the opportunity to go to Berlin Germany, I started to look at places to stay and thought APARTMENTS! I found Berlin Habitat and compared it to many hotels. This place was a good location (within walking distance to the main city, if you enjoy walking) and the apartment had a kitchen and over looked a park. You could also see the very tall TV tower from the balcony.
Bonus, it was really affordable!! My communications with Stefan before we got there were rapid and pleasant. We paid the total up front via pay pal.
The apartment was everything we thought it would be. A Park view studio that was just enough space for two people for a week. Stefan spent time with us when we arrived to answer any questions and recommend some good places to eat at.
At first, my boyfriend was a little leery about staying in an apartment, but after our great experience, he would not have done it any different.
The heating was good, when needed. WIFI was really good. You can hear the birds chirping in the morning and church bells throughout the day. Also, make sure to visit the part of Mitte to the right of the apartment (Left to go to the Ubhan). It has a lot of shops and great restaurants and bars (Check out Trespassers!).
I can't say enough about our great time, but to end this review, I hope you all have as great of a time as we had.
Happy Travels!

Indeed a nice location. However, the apartment we rented was very DUSTY and STICKY all over. If you're not allergic, you will be it here. Terrible, small bed. Cheap furniture and kitchen. Poor functioning of internet. Noise of installations (restaurant?). Bad interiour lighting. Young boys offering there 'services' in the park, when it's getting dark. Next time somewhere else.

We are very sorry about this guest's experience with us and we can't explain it since it's so different from all our reviews on all internet sites. Our apartments are not dusty and sticky (?!). We just hired a new cleaning company and every cleaning is monitored by us. For this perticular apartment we upgraded the Wifi router, lights and inventory. The furniture is of good quality and the bed is queen size (160cm X 200cm) and not small. The apartment is extremely quiet (no street between building and park) and there is no noise from a restaurant. Maintenance work in this building can only be performed at certain hours during the day. The area is extremely safe and affluent. There is almost zero crime. The park is beautiful and safe to cross even late at night. We are a family run business and we are very saddened by this commentary. We live in the same building with a young daughter and we are very happy here. We can guarantee everyone that this is not a true reflection of our business.

We stayed in the Parkview Suite Sepia which has a great view over the park. The area is nice and Alexanderplatz is in walking distance. The room has all the facilities you need, including a kitchen, and is pretty spacious. I would absolutely recommend this place!
