“Great Base for discovering Berlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We stayed for 5 nights in late November. It was easy to either walk or catch a tram to Hacketscher Markt and MuseumIsland. We stayed in the Parkview Suite Azure. It was a studio apartment but well designed (with a separate bathroom.)a balcony overlooking the Park and very quiet. There are great supermarkets within 10 mins walk. On the ground floor there was a good if basic Italian restaurant (which does breakfasts if required). The highlight was the restaurant in the park below - "Nolas". Best restaurant we dined at in Berlin. Swiss cuisine with excellent fondues and salads. Its very popular so you need to book.
The owners live in the apartment complex and are very efficient - Stefan lent me a tie to attend a wedding !
First time visit to Berlin so we did a lot of walking. We liked the Mitte area in former East Berlin. Quieter and more ambience than some of the more modern parts. If we visit Berlin again on our own, we would definitely re-book

Great directions emailed by Stefan prior to visit. Good location - very near U-bahn so exploring is easy. Berlin Wall memorial in walking distance. Grillhouse at the Circus does kebabs to die for! Apartment small but modern and clean.

Stefan and Grace are amazing hosts! The apartment was modern and beautiful. Apartment was very clean. Noise-free. Close to U-Bahn and many great locations. Great Italian place to eat on first floor, and a great coffee place next door. Safe neighborhood. Free WiFi!!!! We will return for another stay. The price is great!!!!

Room Tip: Quality room for a great cost! Clean! Quiet!

We stayed in the Park View Suite Magnolia for 3 nights in October and it was everything we expected. It was extremely clean and very comfortable. It had everything you would expect from a holiday rental except we couldn't find the CD player but it did have an ipod docking station and the only other small negative was the fridge didn't seem to work too well but as we weren't cooking there it didn't matter, it did keep the milk and wine chilled - just. However, everything else was brilliant, it was very quiet, comfortable, clean, warm and had a really good view of the TV Tower.
The Italian Restaurant downstairs was ok for breakfast but there was a much better cafe just round the corner, up the hill, called Maria's which had a better atmosphere and choice.
The apartment location is also very good, a few minutes walk from the nearest UBahn and 10 mins from the SBhan and also lots of restaurants and a supermarket within easy walking distance. The Berlin Wall Memorial was also very close, opposite the SBhan 10 mins away.
I've already recommended this apartment to friends and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in the "Parkview Suite Magnolia" between September 17 - 27th. The suite was exactly as advertised. It is well equipped and has an excellent location backing onto a park and within a 5 minute walk to the U-bahn station. We had issues with the WiFi early in our stay, but the host was very responsive and helped to solve the problem. Highly recommended.

We two very much enjoyed this spacious, clean, and bright apartment where we stayed from 14.08.12 to 28.08.12. It is nicely-designed and well-furnished, and has comfortable beds and adequate cooking equipment. We liked having two bedrooms, one in the back and the smaller one facing the street; we could really stretch out. There is a good shower, and it was very convenient to have a dishwasher and a clothes washer as well as a folding clothes dryer. We also appreciated Stefan’s list of useful information that he posted on the refrigerator, as well as his availability and responsiveness whenever we needed advice or something for the apartment.

The apartment is quite well-located, with an electric trolley right in front of the building and a U-Bahn stop 2 blocks away. We could go pretty much everywhere in the city in 20 minutes. The sound of the trolley never disturbed us (it’s not very loud and the main bedroom is at the back), and we were happy to be able to ride it home from the supermarket on Chaussestrasse with our groceries. If you are a good walker it’s easy to walk to many places—for example, to the Natural History Museum, Museum Island, or to the restaurants and shops in Mitte.

We liked being right at The Wall, but we won’t tell what we found out about the area at the nearby Berlin Wall Memorial (only a 15 minute walk from the apartment). Everyone should visit this Memorial; it is fascinating, and opens up the historical richness of the neighborhood.

The small bakery (Back Shop) on Schwartzkopfstrasse was quite good, with delicious homemade pastries, and we had a nice meal at the Italian restaurant on Wohlerstrasse. We were very happy to return each day to this quiet apartment where we could get a good night’s sleep and feel that we were part of the neighborhood. Outside our bedroom and kitchen windows was a small parklike area with a lawn and lovely trees, beyond which was an actual park; outside our living room /dining area windows was Pflugstrasse: we could dine and watch the neighborhood people go by on this very quiet block or enjoy the passing of “our” M6—the Strassenbahn (tram) that we often took home after an adventure. It was sehr gut—very good indeed.

I rented apartments in three cities on a recent trip through Germany & Austria, and this was the best located and nicest of the lot (also the priciest--but worth it). This was my first time using VRBO and Wimdu, and I'd definitely go this route again.

I stayed in the Isabella 1-brdrm, which is located just steps (really) from the Hackesher Markt S-bahn stop and within easy walking distance of the Hackesche Höfe, scores of restaurants, and a supermarket. It's also a quick walk to both Alexanderplatz, Museumsinsel, and Unter den Linden. Is about as central as it could be. Felt like I'd hit the jackpot when I started exploring the city from here.

The apartment is newly refurbished (and nicely so)--great little kitchen, a large living area with sectional, a large bedroom w/ two beds, good closet space, etc. If I had a complaint, it would be that they could use another picture or two on the walls. [In other words, there's nothing to complain about.] Leaving the window open at night for ventilation let in quite a bit of street noise (I was there during the Euro soccer championship, so there was probably more of this than normal), but earplugs solved that.

I briefly considered staying in another neighborhood (Kreuzberg), but that would have been a mistake. Because of the location and quality of this apartment, this was easily my favorite rental, and I'd definitely stay there again.
