“excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

the staff was excellent, the location was next to the subway/bus station. the rooms and bathrooms were clean, facilities up-to-date and the overall experience was well worth the very modest price. the staff even printed a map of the local area and helped me arrange my travel plans that day!

I've not stayed in many hostels but this one has to be among the best. It's a beautiful building, very centrally located for the U-Bahn and S-Bahn to find your way around the city and it's within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. Nice spacious rooms, with a bathroom ensuite and huge lockers to store your stuff. The staff are friendly, the bar's open 24 hours and they offer a decent breakfast for 5 euros. It's a shame the staff couldn't do anything about the person snoring REALLY loudly in my dorm one night!

This is simply the best hostel I have ever been.

-the lobby is amazing (you can see all the floors from the inside)
-they have a bar that runs 24/7 with good German beers that are extremely cheap
-rooms are brand new with nice linen and clean bathrooms
-staff is very nice
-located only a 10 minute walk form Alexanderplatz

They make it appear so easy I wonder how come there aren't as many great hostels!

Location is quiet and a good ten minutes walk to the u-bahn but also walkable if you were having a late night out around Alexander Platz or Freidrichshain. . Hostel rooms are spacious and clean with excellent bed. Excellent facilities very large place. No kitchen so more like a hotel with dorms.

Singer 109 is one of the best hostels I stayed in whilst on a month trip around Europe.

This hostel could be mistaken to be a hotel, as many other reviews have stated. The hostel is immaculately clean, the rooms are basic but efficient with en-suite bathrooms, staff are friendly and go above and beyond to help, which really makes a difference to the whole experience. We used the laundry service which was excellent. We were also late for check-out but we were not charged any extra or frowned upon for doing so.

Overall an amazing experience, I have recommended this hostel to family & friends and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Singer is a nice, quiet place to stay. It doesn't have the typical hostel vibe. It feels much more like a hotel. The lobby is very spacious, open, and sunny with a piano and many computer stations. There is a bar/restaurant nearly always open.

We stayed in two different 4-bed dorms/apartments, both with clean, simple, and modern decorations and giant lockers (bring your own lock). The first was very spacious, very clean, and had giant windows overlooking the sports courtyard. We also had a private bathroom (so nice). Maid-service came to clean everyday.
The second room was a shared suite with a 6-bed dorm and 4-bed dorm (with an extra unused bunkbed) with a seperate bathroom area with two toilets and two showers. Again, very nice and well-designed. The bathroom became very dirty though and I wondered if maid service cleaned that day or if our suite mates were really THAT messy. I voiced my concern at the front desk. Maid service had left for the day, but we were given an apology and free breakfast, which was greatly appreciated.

Breakfast is good (several kinds of wheat bread, white bread, yogurts, cereal, eggs, apples, veggies, cheese, meats, juices, and coffees). Wifi was pretty fast and useable in our rooms.
The staff is friendly and helpful and we really loved the location (quiet, yet central to lots of things). The supermarket is open till midnight and literally just a couple of blocks away. There are three different transportation lines within a 5-minute walk also in addition to several cafes and an organic food store up at the roundabout. We ran in the big park about 1 km away every day and we found it easy to walk to places like Alexanderplatz and Friedrichstein for lots of shopping and eating when we didn't feel like taking public transport. We also walked to the Eastside Gallery.

Overall, good stay! Not like a traditional hostel (harder to meet people and wouldn't recommend for solo travelers or big, crazy party people), but also much nicer in terms of

Room Tip: Ask for room 121 if you choose the 4-bedroom option.
