“Steaks good but service lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

Went there on recommendation but left a little disappointed. Waited 20 minutes for the menu. Another 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. Had to go the the waiter in charge 2 times to get the wine. Waited 50 minutes before the wine came. We were a company of 12 persons and we had t-bone, filet mignon, tuna steaks and lamb. All in a good quality but nothing special. Would have preferred Grill Royal instead.

“Could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Always wanted to go here. Courteous waiting-staff, but rather too slick. Modern decor. Impractical menu cards - too big and heavy. Fresh bread with 3 spreads was served as nibbles. Steak was medium rare as ordered, but only just warm. House-fries were most disappointing. For this price, I expect more.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

We were in Berlin recently for a weekend and ate here on our first night. It's a very American style eaterie, very modern and cool.

Firstly, the menus. These are very large wooden framed - and heavy(!) - menus. There is a wide range of food served here. While waiting for our food, fresh bread was served with three dips, one each of pesto, crushed olives and cream cheese. For the main course I had the New York strip steak and my husband had salmon. We both ordered creamed spinach as a side dish and he also ordered fries. Absolutely delicious and cooked exactly as we ordered. Very good wine list too with wines from around the world. After the main course we were handed postcard sized desert menus and were also handed a pen. The way it works is that the menu actually IS a postcard, which you are invited to write and the restaurant posts them for you. We got one each. We didn't order desserts but had coffees and when we asked for the bill a mini barbeque type thing was brought to the table with marshmallows and skewers and we enjoyed toasted marshmallows! Delicious.

We were trying to decide where to eat on our last night in the city and there was no contest - back to the midtown grill we went. While we had the same main courses as the first time, this time we shared a lovely dessert of key lime pie. We were given more postcards to send and again got the lovely marshmallows to toast.

I can highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely visit it again when we are next in Berlin.

“Superb lunchtime menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

I had set my eyes on the Midtown Grill for quite a while and intended to visit it savoring their dinner, however during my last stay in Berlin at the end of the year circumstances only allowed me to try out what they had on offer at lunchtime.

The "Midtown Grill" is located on the ground floor of the Marriot Berlin, a few steps away from Potsdamer Platz. Unlike the hotel cocktail-bar 'Catwalk', the restaurant allows you to enter from outside of the hotels premises. It sports a modern form-follows-function interior and professional staff who stay pleasantly away from being too 'posh'.

Regarding the food, well: I chose the beef tenderloin while my friend opted for the "Wiener Schnitzel", and both turned out to be absolutely perfect. Prices actually were on par (or even slightly lower) with the common and bland Maredo chain-restaurants!! A solid selection of good wines was available too, and the desert we chose were out of this world, both in quality and in volume.

“A great restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

We are from Venezuela, so we are used to have a good steak. We had dinner twice at the restaurant and in both opportunities we have a great meal. The preparation of the filet mignon is outstanding. The service is impeccable. Due to the christmas season the restaurant was almost 100% booked, the hostess could be more friendly with hotel guesses.
