“Supposedly "simple" Summer house for Fürstbischoffs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

In comparison to the Festung & the Residenz, this is relatively plain but still amazing that so much expense could be made for the comfort of the Prince-Bishops. Interesting rococo garden also.

“A Beautiful Half Day Excursion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

The boat trip alone is pur bliss, so peaceful and relaxing. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Veitshöcheim with the boat and the boats leave every hour.

The gardens at this place are amazing and the herb garden is also very interesting!

Perfect for an easy, comfortable excursion offering so many benches to sit and just enjoy the scenery!

To view the castle was also great but cannot compare to the Residenz.

“Castle can only be viewed with guided tour in German”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012 via mobile

We took a 40-minute boat ride to get here (the boat leaves from the Congress Centrum dock and one-way costs 7.50€). Much of the boat trip passes ugly industrial sites. The Schloss is a 5-minute walk from the dock through a cute town.

The Schloss can only be viewed with a guided tour in German but they have a multi-language audio guide for the garden.

There are several nice restaurants in Veitschöchheim and some shops. The church is also nice. We took a very quick and cheap bus back to Würzburg's bus bahnhof which is next to the train station and an easy walk to the town center.

“Large gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

A park area with arrangements of trees and hedges and hidden corners. You may always expect to meet a well dressed person of the times coming around the corner.

“Off-the-beaten-path gem in Wuerzburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

This is outside of the inner city and is most easliy accessed with a car. If you have a car, definitely take it in. The palace gardens are quite stunning and they are alone worth the visit. If you visit in the Fall, there are a number of cafes in Veitshochheim where you can get fresh onion cake ("Zwiebel Kuchen," kind of like a quiche) and a glass of new wine (in the Franconian dialect called "Bremse." An incredibly wonderful combination.
