My husband and I stayed in this lovely B&B for 2 days in June of 2007... and we wished we could have stayed longer! In the impossibly cute town of Rothenberg, on the Romantic Road, this darling spot is like a fairy tale!
Highlights: Views from our window, onto the town wall and Kingentor Tower; incredible breakfast spread at the Winestuben around the corner (included); darling interior decor and exterior of house; proximity inside the town walls, so easy walk to anywhere in Rothenberg; very clean; and the price is great--we paid just 58 euro per night for our room (the red toile room). The lady who owns & runs the place was friendly and helpful, though we didn't see her very much.
Difficulties: Hmm... well, we did have a tough time finding the place initially, driving past it a couple times before getting out of the car to ask a neighbor. It's not well signed, but just look for the yellow house with small front garden, facing the wall, near Klingentor (see my pics for reference). All the rooms are up a small, windy wooden staircase, but that just adds to the coziness in my book. Our room was fairly small, with attic-like ceilings, but there was the tiny reading nook, and an attached bathroom, which was sparklingly clean!
This place is precious, and you must take the Night Watchman's evening tour when in Rothenberg. The town has a good website and Rick Steves' Germany book gives some helpful facts. We absolutely adored this storybook village!
