“Ok Value....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

After a very pleasant 3 hour drive on the Romantic Road from Fuessen, my husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is well located and it has a very convenient parking space free of charge. The layout justifies the beauty of the medieval architecture that Rothenburg represents. Upon check in, we were greeted by a very unhappy (rude) receptionist who barely spoke and seemed bothered by simple questions such us "do you have internet access"......
We were given a room in a 3rd floor with a quiet view facing the medieval wall (watch tower). The room was standard size, average clean, a minibar, small bathroom but efficient and a small IKEA type of closet. Two twin beds feature as a double bed (standard in Germany) and one of the biggest complaint apart from no A/C at all, was a small TV that looks like it was from the 70s. With a remote control "brick size" that never worked. We gave up trying after receiving no help from the front desk. Even after they said the fixed it.
Next time in the enchanting town of Rothenburg we'll stay elsewhere.

Thank you very much for your valuable hint. To be friendly is one of the most important abilities of our staff in the Prinzhotel. Sadly and honestly admitted, there was a foul apple in the basket. We have therefore terminated employment with the receptionist in question. Hoping you make the test with us again.

Thank you.

We stayed at this property in July 2011 for our first night in Germany and drove directly there from Frankfurts airport. Just inside the walled city but in a quiet location. Good parking in their parking lot. The hotel appears to be kept up well. The room was clean and quiet. WIFI and breakfast was available for a fee. We did not get a chance to eat at the hotel but did eat at the Burgerkeller for dinner which we highly recommend.

To sum it up - hassle free check-in, free parking directly in front of hotel, perfect location, and a very clean room with a nice bathroom. We only stayed here one night, and it was our first hotel of many during our vacation in Germany, but it was a great one to start off with. Honestly no complaints. The Prinzhotel offered us a very affordable rate - the cheapest we paid on our whole trip.

The Prinzhotel Rothenburg was a big disappointment. I expected a beautiful, family-run independent hotel, cosy and welcoming, but the reality upon arrival was totally different. We were barely welcomed, I had asked (and paid) for a room with a beautiful view over Rothenburg and was instead given one with the view over the car park, the room was very noisy (we could hear the neighbours talking, although they were talking at a very low voice!), I had asked for extra pillow, but there were only two small and uncomfortable pillows, on their online booking form they kindly said we would find some complementary Underberg (a German liquor) in our room but there was none to be seen... This list could continue. But the worse of it all was that, when I called them a few days after our stay to enquire about a watch and hat which we may have lost there, they barely accepted to check is we had left anything there and were utterly unfriendly. How disappointing. With a little better manners and better care, it could be a nice hotel. But Rothenburg has an array of great places to stay, therefore avoid this one.

Thank you for your valuable comment - this topic has been on my desk as the most important, but we hd first to renovate all of our 52 rooms before we taccle that project.

Soon we will have restyled our restaurant and added a cool bar beween February and April 2011. At the moment we are discussing concepts and designs. You will be surprised from Easter 2010 when we will introduce our new gastronomic concept. Worth a visit even more. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2010

We stayed in Rothenburg ob der Tauber at Prinzehotel as part of our honeymoon in October 2009. We had a room with one king bed facing the outer wall of the old town. The room was comfortable, modern and there was not a lot of noise from outside but we could hear the people in the room next to us watching tv and snoring. The hotel was within walking distance of everything in the old town, the center of town was only a 5-10 minute walk. Initially getting the car to the hotel was a bit of a challenge because it is a bit hidden and the street signs are a bit confusing. The internet in the lobby was handy, fast enough to use skype and the included breakfast was quite good (German style breakfast). Overall we would stay there again and would recommend it to our friends.

We booked a 3 day stay here, mainly to be used as a base to see other towns. The staff were friendly after out long drive from Hannover but being so hot all we wanted to do was get into our room. This is when we found out that there is no fan or air conditioning.
The nights were unbearable, we had the window wide open but with such high roofs in Rothenburg, there was no breeze to relinquish the heat. The room itself is dated and it appears the owners have concentrated their expenditure on the bathrooms, which were a welcome site and quite large. We did not have breakfast here, as nobody else seemed to. There is not a great deal happening in this town, especially at night. Hotels seem to tbe the only place where you can quench your thirst. It is a charming town but no need to stay here. After the second night we checked out due to the heat. Probably a good stay in winter!
